GREEN KILLERS: CONGO’S MINERS DYING TO FEED WORLD’S HUNGER FOR ELECTRIC CARS

I have not seen stainless steel exhaust systems used on many cars as stock systems. Mostly I see mild steel systems. Any brand or model you're thinking of?

Cobalt can be found in limited places in a car today, particularly in modern entertainment systems. It is found in the magnets for the speakers.
Otherwise, yes...you are correct. There is no cobalt in an automobile nor it's engine.

My Hyundai and the GF's Escape have stainless steel exhaust.

So you cannot understand graphs showing that cobalt is used in ICEs? They are less per vehicle, but since they are so many more, they are why we have mining of cobalt. We were mining cobalt before EVs were invented. Now it is all Evs and no other uses. You guys are not familiar with honesty.

There is no cobalt in a internal combustion engine or it's exhaust or induction systems.

Cobalt is used in airbags
Catalysts for petroleum and chemical industries
cemented carbides
diamond tools
corrosion and wear-resistant enamels
high-speed steels
varnishes
inks
magnets
recording media
steel belted radial tires
According to cobalt companies.
We have been mining cobalt for a long time, long before EVs came along. Now there is pressure for cobalt mining to be cleaner and safer for workers. There was none before.

Cobalt is not used in airbags.
Cobalt is not used as a catalyst in petroleum refining.
Cobalt is not cement or carbide.
Cobalt is not diamond or any other form of carbon.
Cobalt is not used in enamels.
Cobalt is not steel. It is not used in high speed steel cutting bits.
Cobalt is not used in varnish.
Cobalt is only used in specialized inks.
Cobalt is used in some magnets.
Cobalt is not used in recording media.
Cobalt is not used in tires.

Cobalt mining in the Congo uses child slave labor. They don't care about cleaner or safer mining.

You are a contrarian, When you were taught by parents to say NO, you should have learned other words. https://www.blm.gov/sites/default/files/docs/2021-04/BLM-AK-Cobalt-Infographic.pdf Read the industrial uses, them come back and apologize.

This site is wrong. False authority fallacy. I need not apologize for YOUR fallacy.

Cobalt is not used in tires at all. It is not used in turbines. It is not used in airbags. It is not used as a drying agent. It is not used in magnetic recording media. It is not used to make stainless steel.

You are clueless, and so are the twits that built this website. Again, you are just cut and pasting. You have no mind of your own.

To be fair, cobalt is used in some types of stainless steel for medical use.

I have no fallacy. Stop using it wrongly. Cutting and pasting is how one provides other sources, as in this one absolutely highly qualified source, since they manufacture the damn things. Who is not qualified is you.https://www.earthmagazine.org/article/mineral-resource-month-cobalt/ Have someone read this source and explain it to you. Perhaps you can digest the information even though it goes against your terribly wrong preconceptions.

You mentioned you were a chemist. Any area of specialty? Most chemists have one. Mine is in pyrotechnics, although I am familiar with most industrial processes. My business makes sensors for industry, aerospace, medical, and entertainment markets.

LOL. This is hilarious! The guy who doesn't even fully understand entropy and has never even seen the second law written out thinks he has a "specialty" in chemistry! HILARIOUS.

You really should read the link you quote.

The most common type of stainless steel for medical use is type 455 (sometimes called 'custom' 455). This allow is made of:

Carbon: 0.05 max
Manganese: 0.50 max
Phosphorus: 0.040 max
Sulfur: 0.030 max
Silicon: 0.50 max
Chromium: 11.00-12.50
Nickel: 7.50-9.50
Molybdenum: 0.50 max
Copper: 1.50-2.50
Columbium + Tantalum: 0.10-0.50
Titanium: 0.080-1 .40
Iron: Balance

No cobalt.
The link you gave points to how any cobalt impurities in the alloy are to be kept as low as possible.

I have no fallacy.
Lie.
Stop using it wrongly.
These are YOUR fallacies, dude. It is YOUR problem.
Cutting and pasting is how one provides other sources,
Discard of philosophy. Attempted justification of a weak mind.
as in this one absolutely highly qualified source,
Circular argument fallacy (fundamentalism).
since they manufacture the damn things.
Blogs, magazine, and Wikipedia do not manufacture tires.

False authority fallacy.

There is no cobalt in any kind of tire.

The average EV uses around 60lbs of cobalt, a mobile phone uses 5 or six grams! Stop bullshitting, ducking and diving ffs!

There are billions of cell phones compared to EV. If you really care about the children you will get rid of your cell phone and other electronic devices. Or, is this just a way to attack green energy by pretending to care about miners in the Congo?

Describing yourself again, I see.

Didn't you recently tell the board that the "Definition" of entropy was e(t) < e(t+1)?

I have to tell you that was hilarious. Can you tell me which particular chemistry or physics text you got that "version" from? Because

(A) entropy is not represented by "e" but rather "S" in chemistry and physics.

(B) the second law is very specific. There are local situations in which the entropy term is actually NEGATIVE (ie entropy decreases) but the key to the second law is that in a CLOSED system such that no energy can come into the system. This is where entropy always increases. And it applies to the universe since universally entropy increases, but there are many situations in which entropy actually DECREASES LOCALY (ie inside your refrigerator when ice is formed, that's a situation where the entropy of the water goes to a LOWER value as it crystallizes. The reason your fridge doesn't violate the Second Law is that it dumps a bunch of heat to the external world which causes the overall entropy of the universe to increase.

If you want to know how chemists think about entropy try looking at the Gibbs Free Energy equation. Then go look up some values in the literature for entropy of various reactions.

I have tried this gambit with them. They simply ignore the fact that they use Li a LOT.

These people couldn't care less about poor kids in Africa. If it was required to murder a poor kid in Africa for gallon of cheap gas most of these fucks wouldn't care. But if it can be used to score a point against the "libs" then it's all they care about. Suddenly these people, most of whom are TERRIFIED of brown people, can't get enough alligator tears welled up about these poor people.

It's disgusting to see the hypocrisy.
