Greta Thunberg

Future generations will look upon her as a visionary, and as being way ahead of her time.
Like who? Al Gore? He's the laughing stock of the world.
It's too bad that we can't set aside the 'global warming' part of this debate. It's become too politically charged, and distracting. The signs that we are not producing or consuming energy in any kind of sustainable way, or in a way that is healthy for the planet, are completely undeniable. We can 't continue this course for another 20-30 years, much less for generations.
Or else? doomsday predictions have existed since at least biblical days. I'm still waiting.
We do need to start thinking in terms of long-term sustainability.
Adaptability. Life has always been able to adapt.
As the slogans say, there is no Planet B. We sent dudes to the moon within a few years of thought and effort.
Not the least of which was math, physics and engineering.Climate alarmists are the real science deniers. They deny the Stefan-Boltzmann law and the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics.
We can tackle this one in a way that IMPROVES the economy and the health of the planet. It's not a zero sum game.
Efforts in improving the health of the planet would be far better spent cleaning up the oceans, e.g.

Not even talking doomsday. Adaptability? Sure - you good living in a dome? Losing our oceanic food supply and switching over to insects? Watching our coasts disappear and moving inland?

We can always adapt. I don't really want to, personally - not when we have economically viable options to make our relationship with the planet more symbiotic, and not parasitic.

That's some lazy debating right there. "Buzzword fallacy" is meaningless.
No, it means you are using undefined words and phrases as if they meant something.
Sorry, but planets do have a "health."
Nope. A planet is a big rock with an atmosphere around it that happens to orbit a star. There is no health in a planet.
If you can't at least start w/ that assumption, there is no point in discussing it.
Fine. You are not discussing anything anyway. You are preaching. I declare the Church of Green to be a false religion.
I assume you'd be alarmed if the oceans could no longer support life? We can start there if you want.
But they do. There is an abundance of life in the oceans. Why start with something that doesn't exist?

Did I say "climate change"?

Actually, you said 'global warming', which is also a buzzword. So is 'pollution' and 'health of a planet'. So is 'sustainability'. All of these buzzwords are used by the Church of Green, except 'global warming', which is used by the Church of Global Warming (which stems from the Church of Green anyway). Both religions stem from the Church of Karl Marx.

Not even talking doomsday.
Yes you are, liar.
Adaptability? Sure - you good living in a dome?
No one needs to live in a dome. Go outside and play.
Losing our oceanic food supply
We aren't. Go outside and fish.
and switching over to insects?
People already eat insects. Some of them are good eating. Personally, I would rather have crab and clams instead.
Watching our coasts disappear
What coast is disappearing?
and moving inland?
Many people already live inland.
We can always adapt.
Yup. We do it every day and every season. We do it every time we travel, too.
I don't really want to, personally -
Well, if you'd rather live life in your self imposed prison, that's your business.
not when we have economically viable options to make our relationship with the planet more symbiotic, and not parasitic.

I don't think you know what either of those words mean. Buzzword fallacy.

If you had any grasp of special education with regard to advanced subjects then you'd quit projecting your own failings onto a very intelligent- and phenomenally successful- young Swede.
The fact that you associate ' special education ' with retarded subjects indicates that you have no grasp.
It's obvious you don't understand "special education"....please feel free to show me where I associated anything with the "r" word....I'll wait.
My certification?
Professional Education of the Handicapped (K-12) Certificate
Teaching Fields:
Developmentally Handicapped
The "names" assigned to special education classifications have changed considerably over the years...but you would know that...right? The "r" word is a thing of the past....

Valid points, but I think we all do that to a point. You are 100% correct about autisim my autistic grandchild hates to be in the same class as other autistic children. Calls them weird. LOL

Bless her heart. I wish ppl -- especially those who try to hold themselves out as experts -- would stop referring to those of us with mental differences/difficulties as "sick" or "ill." There is zero compassion in those statements; only ignorance, fear, and even hate.

Nah. You're just caught up in word games.

Health, for example, is often generally used as a substitute for well-being. People often talk about the health of automobiles, or businesses (just for example).

Sustainability isn't a buzzword. It's an actual thing.

I will not interrupt your determination to remain uninformed on this issue. I'm not really here to try to persuade anyone, as I think that is a near impossibility on JPP. There are facts, and there is ignorance. And that is basically that.

Undoubtedly. Good call.

No, it's in the link. TOP was a special ed teacher. Greta has special needs. TOP understands Greta far better than you understand brain surgery. No one said her autism is a disease. Her depression is a mental illness that needs to be addressed rather than exploiting it. There is no reason to shame autistic kids. They need understanding. No one said Trump is mentally ill. He does have some personality disorders as we all do to some degree.
Personally I believe anyone even wanting to be POTUS has to have some personality disorder.

You believe a lot of nonsense, including that Toxic is/was any sort of teacher. You, Toxic, and the rest of the nutters in this thread are the ones using this young lady for your own ends. You and the climate nutz because you think you can diminish her message by painting her as a mental patient; Toxic to try to convince ppl that she has credentials and empathy. None of you actually give a rat's ass about Ms. Thunberg.

How quickly you forget that before and after TRE45ON was selected, various mental health professionals were claiming that he has a myriad of mental illnesses, including narcissism. This has continued throughout our three-year national travail.

Go ahead and keep bashing away at her. Your whines and poutrage are 100% ineffective and only serve to make you look like the bitter bullshit pushers that you all are.

You bought Top teacher Bullshit:palm:
Teach the new girl how to wipe the lunchroom tables maybe

People with autism spectrum disorder are not "sick". A real special ed teacher would know this. Real teachers do not go on public forums and post hateful comments about children/adults with mental or physical differences. They do not bash people under the guise of pretending to care about them. Not a single shred of empathy comes through your posts, did you realize that?

Go have your own mental illnesses treated before you start worrying about what you think are other's problems. We'll see you back in 20 or 30 years, maybe. If they can find a cure, that is. You are the nastiest of the nasty, and a fraud. I'd ask if you have no shame but we know the answer to that: You don't.

Sigmund Freud and a team of a thousand psychiatrist, couldn't put a
dent in Tops Psycho illness in a thousand years!

Hmm, where have I heard these doomsday End of Times predictions before? Let me think. Oh yeah, the Book of Revelations.
