Do we know he was going to attack the old man? The guy is an idiot no doubt. Who the hell throws popcorn at an old man? But throwing popcorn is no guarantee he was going to attack him. Nor is that justification for shooting.

People can move seats or they can call the cops. It doesn't have to resort to the firing of a gun. If that is worth going to prison for the rest of your life then that is your choice. I like living on the outside.

You weren't there. If he tossed a lot with force, I would see it as a diversion for a more physical attack. I might be inclined to defend against such attack...

No....but it's not like he busted a cap on the old codger either. Maybe he should have. He'd still be alive.
 
Gun regulations should include some sort of social response test to evaluate how a potential gun owner responds to frustrating social situations.

Or, people can choose not to text during a movie. Or not initiate a physical confrontation when told what the rules are.
