Hmmm.

This is pretty much the same thing that guy that just got fired form MSDNC said. Blaming the victim in an act of violence is shameful. This is the same kind of crap as "she shouldn't have worn that short skirt in THAT part of town" nonsense. No. Folks should not resort to violence because of something that was said. He spent time being respectful, listening to what they said, and making sure they had time and the audience let them speak. He clearly stated that if we want to end the violence and divisiveness the best way to do it is for those who disagree to have a dialogue rather than a fight.

I get that you do not like his opinions, but assuming he preached hate and violence simply because you didn't like his opinion just shows you didn't know what he was about.

The guy was barely a blip on my political radar until he was shot. Nope, I don't like what he advocates at all, but you're right -- that is no justification for murdering him. He appealed to the most base ugliness of the RW, but that's no reason he should have been removed. It's ironic that just two years ago he said that gun deaths were the price we pay for the 2nd Amendment.

Same here. MAGA is full of radical white supremacist asshole hothead who seek to rile people up. Charlie riled up Nick Fuentes and Tyler Robinson.

I'm not sure what Jan 6th has to do with this. That seems like a different discussion.

Kirk was definitely provocative, and that no doubt made him a target. Just to me, saying free speech comes with consequences after someone was murdered sounds like saying it was justified.
J6 = violence instigated by the one at the very top. The violence was because of a lost election and the failure to accept it. The violence was because some people cannot tolerate differences of opinion and belief. The violence done to Mr. Kirk was caused by the very same thing.

Unfortunately, Reichwing pundits and politicians, some of them, are now going to blame THE ENTIRE LEFT for the death of Mr. Kirk. Some are even going to suggest or outright call for equal violence to be done to this group of people. It's already begun. They don't care about this young man's death. They've got their martyr.

I like the way our campus dealt with the Turning Point stooges when they showed up a couple of times at semi-political discussions held on campus. One was a presentation about the local tribes and how NMU was working with their leadership to educate both the public and the students taking Native American studies courses. There was only a handful of TPers who tried to disrupt the event by standing up and shouting. They were completely ignored, and left after a few minutes of trying to heckle the speakers and possibly provoke a fight. My cultural anthro prof was present for that one. It made for a lively group discussion in class a couple of days later.

Much better than bullets.

Well there is no do overs. He fucked himself.
I'm sure he knew it would be a great applause line at MAGA rallies to defiantly howl that gun deaths are "worth it" to have an unrestricted 2nd amendment.

But sitting in Hell now, he would probably give up anything to see his children again and be their father for decades to come.
