I'm saying that transgenders exist, are few in number, and have serious mental health issues that need dealing with. What they don't need is affirmation of their condition in an attempt to normalize it, compounded by cosmetic surgery, drugs, and genital mutilation.

Anyone who says gender is 100% a social construct is a fucking moron. Same goes for anyone who says people "turn gay" or "choose the lifestyle" meaning choose the people they love not just their actions. The latter fucking morons claim gender = sex and that there's only two genders. The truth is in the middle. The Holy Grail of Behaviorism is determining exactly what is Nature in human beings and what is Nurture across the spectrum of human behaviors. It varies. Only fucking morons think human beings can be nailed down to two or three areas like sex, superiority or what is considered intelligent.

It was (is?) standard practice in the US for adult health reasons.* The European culture seems to overlook the health reasons and think it makes them look too Jewish. Go figure.

Agreed. If it's a phase, it will pass. If it's them, then a loving parent should still love them as they are.

Back on "gender is a social construct", don't look at the kid, look at the parent. The parent who objects to a boy's desires to play with dolls instead of Tonka trucks has been socially conditioned to think that way. Why else would they be so upset? It's certainly not genetic to hate your kid for being gay, trans, a straight male who likes to play with dolls, whatever.
