How young Americans are set to change the US forever

There are as many Democratic as Republican safe districts. They are drawn to protect incumbents and the "big sort" means people are living around others like themselves and districts would have to be gerrymandered to make them competitive. Drawing fairly compact and contiguous districts puts like individuals together. Democrats "waste" many of their votes by packing so many together in high density urban areas.

Seems a splendid way to destroy democracy, if that's what you have.

The wealthy and powerful make corrections on the way. When reporters blew open what we were doing in Vietnam, the military took note. When we had huge demonstrations against the war, they watched closely. When we attacked Iraq, the press briefings were done by Rumsfeld and generals. It was a pro administration and military ,dog and pony shows. The reporters went with the military. They controlled them from beginning to end. The wealthy are not stupid. They will shut down any attempts for progress.

But so many of the wealthy are liberals so why would they stop progress?

On the other hand, it makes members more representative of their constituents. If a district is heavily Democratic or Republican the member elected will share their views; but, it also means they don't have to compromise which makes it harder to get Congress to agree on anything.
