I doubt Hillary wrote "change you can Xerox"

Speaking at Woodrow Wilson Center on Wednesday, Obama said that, as president, he would not hesitate to order unilateral military action against al-Qaeda inside Pakistan if he had intelligence information that warranted a strike. Pakistani Foreign Minister Khusheed Kasuri called his remarks "very irresponsible." Sher Afgan, minister for parliamentary affairs, said it was a matter of "grave concern that U.S. presidential candidates are using unethical and immoral tactics against Islam and Pakistan to win their election."

"There are terrorists holed up in those mountains who murdered 3,000 Americans," said Obama in a speech billed as a major security-issues address.

"They are plotting to strike us again . . . If we have actionable intelligence about high-value terrorist targets and President Musharraf won't act, we will."

Gee, where to start . . .

Pakistan is a fiercely Islamic nation of 170 million, possessing deliverable nuclear weapons and comprising some of the most militarily challenging terrain on the planet...

Do you know what "actionable intelligence" means?

I totally agree with him on this, and plenty of folks on both the right & left do. It's funny how you had no problem invading & occupying a country that had nothing to do w/ 9/11 for 5 years, but when it comes to actually going after those who were responsible, it's "naive" foreign policy.

What a fool.

Which Bush have you been watching over the years? I have never seen him in any sort of true comfort or eloquence. He's a mess.

I love how speeches, which are kind of a big part of the job, are now nothing more than "big, stuffy" things, just because you know Bush is a flunkie who can't talk.

I think what he said was very accurate. The people I know that have met with Bush either privately or in small groups have told me how surprised they were at much better of a speaker he was in person than they had seen on TV. WRL was right in that Bush doesn't do well when giving speeches to large groups. I know it is a big part of the job but it doesn't mean Bush does it well as he obviouslyl doesn't.

I'll go by the unscripted stuff I have actually seen, like his press conferences, or his interview with Tim Russert a few years back.

He's blithering; the guy has very rudimentary communication skills, at best.

read my other post, not to mention they've helped us, they are our allies, they have democratized, they are moderating peacefully, a real quick way to screw that up is to start dropping US Bombs, unless it's bin laden... There can be only one reasonable exception and it better take him out...

It's actually the exact opposite, his strength is in his off the cuff talking to people, big stuffy speeches is definitely not his forum.
You are insane, it is when he goes off script that we get most of those Bushisms...

I think he does better in small groups, but still suffers from stage fright.

The larger the audience, the more likely the blunder.

In person? I'm sure that in person, and in informal setting Bush can blather on quite competently about baseball, the weather, or his daughters. I doubt your friends were there for any high-level policy discussions.

I'll guarantee you this: If Bush, Obama, and Clinton were told they had to give a townhall forum meeting on an important wonkish policy issue, and they weren't going to be allowed to have notes, scripted lines, or teleprompters, and they only had ten minutes to prepare for it, Bush would come off looking like a blithering incoherent fool. Obama and Clinton would look substantive and informed.

Seeing that one of them is the CEO of a Top 25 company in the Fortune 500 they weren't there to talk about the weather. The few people I know that met with him were there for legit business reasons, not giving each other reach arounds. I'm just stating what they told me.

I wouldn't put too much stock in it. Expectations for Bush are ridiculously low; if people meet him & he doesn't drool, they're pleasantly surprised & impressed.

Again, his press conferences & interviews have, by & large, been a mess. The guy can't speak, or intelligently talk his way around an issue to save his life.

I know a couple of people who have met with bush privately too and they back up what you say Cawacko. One of them swears that he's never seen anyone burp the alphabet with such clarity. "None Better", the guy stated to me unequivically. And I mean, no hesitation at all. So...

That's great. Good for you Darla.

Darla, I told you that in confidence.

You can't trust anyone nowadays.

Cawacko, any president is prepped for those meetings. His staff tells him what those people want to talk about, and what issues the president should hit on. Those kind of "informal" meetings with business leaders and VIPs aren't just off the cuff, random events.

I'm talking about what Bush is like, with no preparation, no notes, and no help. I've seen Bush in debates, and I've see Bush try to answer unscripted and unexpected questions at townhall forums and press conferences. He's a moron, compared to people like Obama and Clinton.

Oh I didn't get to see it. one of my friends says he might still be able to hook me up though, so, here's hoping!

He did say whatever you do, don't pull Bush's finger. Another hidden talent, apparently.

Listen, don't worry, it's all gonna come out in the history books. The liberals won't be able to hide this stuff forever!

They just haven't seen my four year old do it yet. She'll beat almost anybody hands down....

Bush is prepred before large speeches, doesn't mean he does them well.

Yeah they practice him up on words when they need him to make a signing statement.

He gets most of the words right with enough practice.

In Bush's UN speech last year, the speech writers had to phonetically write the names of the French President, and several countries, for bush's speech.

What's funny is, if bush ever needed to say phonetically they would have to write phonetically, phonetically.
