It's okay. It's a way of self-medicating. I sometimes do the same thing when feeling down, spend too much on "frivolous" stuff (like beads lol).

Isn't it fascinating that the (R)s don't want to provide anything to struggling individuals, yet are more than willing to bailout their already-rich buddies? I hope this time around they include penalties and fines for those who take the funds when they don't need them, like those grifter mega-churches did last time.

Maybe one day when COVID is over I could find a good place that lets people excavate minerals. Of course, that would cost money too. Even when my hobby was making fresh bread I still paid for it from supplies we already had and the pounds gained from carb overload.
 
A check is a big boost to the economy increasing demand. That is what demand is, people spending and buying. That is what increases jobs. The company has to keep up with demand so they hire more people or expand. McConnel and Trump do not care about any of that. This is a great opportunity to usher in the plutocracy. More money and power to the wealthy. People are expendable.

Agreed. I'm not a lawyer so I can't tell you all the legal ins and outs, but you're smart enough to know there will always be some fucking lawyer representing some pissed-off group of people whining about why they didn't get their money. The law on this has to be solid.

It was nice that we both got one, but we're retired and didn't need it. I donated mine to various local food pantries.

I would like to see a much larger one sent to those who have been on the unemployment rolls for at least three months, through no fault of their own. And to everyone who grossed less the the national median income last year. These are the ppl who will use it to buy presents and things that they need and stimulate the economy. Those who don't need it just bank it.


It must be nice to be so rich. But the vast majority of people aren't. Also, for a time, people were getting more for unemployment than they deserved. I hate to admit it. But the republicans were right in that regard. I worked it out once. Getting $600.00 a week was equivalent to making around $15.00 dollars an hour. I don't think many people make that kind of money. Especially when most jobs are low wage McJobs. Which comes from having most of our manufacturing jobs sent overseas and leaving us with a "service" based economy. Looking it up, minimum wage can be anywhere from $2.00 dollars an hour to $13.25 an hour. The average seems to be around $7.25 an hour.

If the government can afford to be that free and easy with the money they hand out in unemployment payments, they sure as hell can afford to send out another round of $1200.00 dollar stimulus checks. As I said, I could use the money. For one reason, my bed has started going to hell. With holes starting to appear in the top fabric and me having to put a rectangle of foam padding across the middle of the bed to fill in the divot. I could use a new mattress. But I could never be able to afford to buy one on my own. Though no doubt there are people out there even more in need who don't even qualify for unemployment. I wrote my congressman about a new round of $1200.00 dollar stimulus checks. All I got in reply was lengthy bullshit that didn't even address the issue. And that person was a democrat!

My last one was handy. I bought a new pool pump and filter (cartridge replacing my DE one) with it. Another one? Maybe I'll get the hydraulic cylinder on my backhoe that's leaking by rebuilt. Paying rent is not a "personal need??" What about the landlord?? Why should he go hungry and pile up debt just so his tenants can buy Christmas presents?? Is the county where this incident occurred going to let the landlord shirk his property taxes??

i am, in principle, opposed to The State providing for us and encouraging socialism. That doesn't mean I won't accept a stimulus check. I will, however, use it responsibly. I'll pay bills. Maybe I'll donate a small part of it to Wounded Warrior Project. But I will not tell my creditors to buzz off so I can buy a case of beer.

I have been through all this before at different times. If people aren't going to pay their rent, that's just the way it is. But like it or not, those peon peasant motherfuckers you look down on so much have personal needs too. If they got a $1200.00 dollar stimulus check, it should be used to improve their lives. Not their landlords. Also, the landlord himself would receive a $1200.00 dollar stimulus check. So in that regard, they would both be even. Also, if landlords don't receive rent, they can just write it off on their taxes. For the poor tenants, they're just screwed.

This is how I think things should work. If a tenant can't pay rent, don't require it of them. And for whoever the landlord may owe money to for that rental property, in either mortgage payments or taxes, allow them to not pay that either. I will show you something about what FDR said. Which I think should be done. But only after deporting all illegals, ending immigration of non-whites and closing the U.S.-Mexico border. Completely. And using MANY minefields. Because what America does for its people should only be done for its people.

Court action for what. Evicting tenants? If so, I think all such landlords need to be introduced to madam guillotine. Just like the aristocrats were after the French Revolution.
 
Most apartments are owed by large companies, such as the Trumps and Kushner, so I don't feel much sympathy for them. You can take your plutocracy and shove it up you bung-hole.
