I think if anything, he hated Trump because he disrespected the troops. I don't think he hated Trump because he lost his presidential election. If that was the case, he would have hated Obama too.

McCain wanted to replace the ACA with something but Trump didn't have a plan. McCain knew that if the ACA was eliminated, we wouldn't have had anything.
That's how I saw it too. The ACA was a good start with plenty of room for improvement. But Trump didn't want to improve it, he wanted to get rid of it and go back to how things were before.

McCain didn't like Trump because Trump did against someone considered the most qualified to ever run for the office what McCain couldn't do against an unqualified black.
He hated Trump because Trump impugned his service. Trump was an ass for that. But you don't vote against your party as a vendetta; that's stupid.
I said he was "embarrassed" about losing twice while Trump won his first try.
