Iowa Republicans want to ban SNAP recipients from buying meat, white bread,

I've seen people buy drugs using SNAP cards.

I know someone who installs the EBT readers. She tells me about stores--particularly back East--that sell a minimal selection of snacks and soft drinks where somebody will come in with an EBT card, buy a little bag of potato chips, get charged $40 for it and get $20 to $30 in cash from the "store." It's just another scam...

And they will be caught. So?

That is nuts

I've personally seen people who clearly don't fit those requirements use their cards at fast food places. Apparently the EBT readers don't discriminate...

I never heard you could use them for fast food.
I don't think that is allowed in my state.
I know you can't buy a rotticiary chicken from Kroger with stamps

People on food stamps shouldn't be buying Micky D's or whatever. They should be buying basic cook-it-yourself foods that will give them a reasonable calorie intake for the month, not blowing it on prepared meals that cost 3 to 5 times what one they cooked themselves would. Of course, this requires two basic things many idiots on food stamps lack:

1. The ability to cook anything beyond heating it in a microwave.
2. Some level of knowledge on how to buy groceries economically.

In a very real sense, it comes down to...

Hand an idiot a fish and he starves to death. Try to teach an idiot to fish and he starves to death.

Maybe nature is trying to tell us something here...

So poor people are idiots. What other explanation is possible? Can't be health. Sure think you are superior to all those millions of people. Of course, the majority are kids. Can't have those stupid kids eating the wrong food.

Poor and stupid usually go hand in hand... And, it's more about their going hungry because their idiot parents (or they themselves) overspent on prepared fast food in preference to cheaper make-it-yourself meals that would have provided more meals for them... Of course, their parents being idiots probably don't know how to make even something simple like mac and cheese from a box.
