Iowa Republicans want to ban SNAP recipients from buying meat, white bread,

Poor and stupid usually go hand in hand... And, it's more about their going hungry because their idiot parents (or they themselves) overspent on prepared fast food in preference to cheaper make-it-yourself meals that would have provided more meals for them... Of course, their parents being idiots probably don't know how to make even something simple like mac and cheese from a box.

You really do judge poor people badly. I see why you are a Trumpy. You think the wealthy are smarter and better people. You genuflect to the rich. How sad and judgemental you are.

No, I judge them honestly. I have no problem with someone who is poor and not-to-bright trying hard to make ends meet and doing what they can to get by. What I can't stand are the pretentious sort that by luck or pedigree have been put in a position where their stupidity is allowed to fester and grow to fuck not only their own life up eventually, but the lives of others. Joke Biden is one such person. John Kerry is another even better example.

No,they give you the card and pass code

So honor among thieves? Why would they do that, don't they have to eat?
The solution, of course, is every righty should accompany a person on food stamps and take charge of their shopping. You guys are so superior and they need the touch of your wisdom.

Usually people who sell foodstamps want to sell some to buy beer and cigarettes.

As an additional thought, I think the government should be holding mandatory classes for every person on food stamps that teaches them to prepare a budget, plan a menu, and basic cooking skills, to include both practical (hands on) and written examinations to ensure that they've learned the material. Fail the class, get kicked out of the program.

They do not eat? The fact is food stamps provide very little to feed a family. So they will starve their families for beer? Foodstamps cannot cover the cost of cigarettes.

They sell the foodstamps for cash $.50 on the dollar to buy beer and cigarettes, then eat at shelters!

Food stamps, right now pays an average of $210 a month in round figures. If you were to match that, that works out to about $14 a day in food. That's about $3 for breakfast and lunch and $8 for dinner. You can vary that some. You can make good meals for that amount for two people. With dependents, the amount given goes up so that remains valid.

It is because recipients are mostly stupid idiots and / or drug addled morons that they can't get enough food on food stamps. Thus, we need a program to force those on drugs to stop and everyone in the program to attend--on a continuing basis--classes to learn (have it pounded into their think skulls and pea brains?) how to budget their money and feed themselves.

If they can't manage that, then fuck 'em.

People who get Snap the majority are working poor and the elderly know how to cook healthy food and how to stretch a food budget

People and families that are homeless have a hard time without the facilities to cook

How about doing that for people who buy a gun? Safety classes and actual use of a gun?

Guns fall under Rights. While that would make sense, you have a harder time making laws that restrict Rights. You have no Right to food stamps. One way around the issue is do what Switzerland does / did.

That is, you issue every able bodied male (and now possibly female) a government semi-automatic military grade rifle as part of the "militia." Issuance is on the basis of being physically and mentally fit to get it issued. Once issued, you are expected to go to a firing range once or twice a year to practice with your issue weapon until some set retirement age. The government issues you like 100 rounds a year for practice.

If you can't meet the requirements for this, then getting any other firearm is damn near impossible. Not completely so, but you have to show why you can't be issued a military one. So, someone who is say a paraplegic in a wheelchair and not fit for military service could still get a firearm for personal use.

You are also expected to provide some measure of safe storage of your government weapon (and others) as part of this. This means if you are a criminal thug getting a firearm is far more difficult than it is today. If also means that you, as a thug, are far more likely to run into armed people who know how to kill you for committing a violent crime.

Then they should have no problem demonstrating it in a class. Once they show they can do those things, they don't have to continue to come, the idiots however do.
As for the homeless, most aren't families, and those that are will still have to figure out how to do that sort of stuff. Invest in an inexpensive camping stove would be one way. I know from camping and being in the military you can cook in the middle of nowhere and it isn't expensive to do.

About $200 for that one and you can use pallet wood for fuel...

As for guns, as I said, that is a Right versus a legal privilege. This one is trickier to make people do stuff with for that reason.

Iowa Republicans proposed a bill that would drastically limit what foods SNAP recipients can buy.
People wouldn't be able to buy grocery staples like white bread, American cheese, fresh meat, and more.
Critics argue the bill would further burden low-income people who are already food-insecure.
Iowa Republicans are proposing sweeping changes to the state's food assistance program — including banning beneficiaries from buying grocery staples like meat, American cheese, or flour.

SNAP recipients wouldn't be able to buy a variety of foods, including white grain bread, buns with added nuts or seeds, white rice, pasta sauce, canned fruits or soups, baked beans, cheese slices, butter, or flour.

If there is one thing America (especially the American Conservatives) value it's making life a little harder for the poor.

The more degrading or the more limited it can be the better it is for Americans. They love watching someone struggle. It's kind of our national sport apparently.

Guns fall under Rights.

Agreed. And there is no Constitutional Right to food or even life. But there is for guns. Because we are nation that values guns.

Hell, we as a nation actually don't mind seeing little kids gunned down in schools! But watching a poor woman get food for her kids is just a bit too far for us. That's just horrifying.

Isn't it the Dems that want to ban meat altogether? So Republicans wanting to ban anyone from buying meat would be something the Dems are promoting.

Homeless families comprise roughly 34% of the total U.S. homeless population.
