Interesting. Uses chuck roast instead of ground beef. Thanks!

Three CUPS of croutons? Have you made this recipe yet?
No, I haven't, but it sounds good. It's from one of my favorite chefs, Alton Brown. It's spicy, though, and from what I know, I'm sure you'd go toe to toe with Mom on spice tolerance. I thought I remembered the hubby likes spice, though.

Your memory is correct. I have no tolerance for spicy stuff but Mr. Owl loves it. When I make meatloaf, I divide it in two and bake them in small foil loaf pans. His gets dehydrated onions, jalapenos, and is topped with chili powder-impregnated catsup. Mine has real onions, green peppers, and basil-covered catsup topping. He'll eat it but it's not one of his favorites. Bet he'll like the one with horseradish and mustard though!

That's one reason the recipes all have a filler -- bread crumbs, croutons, etc. It extends the number of servings. It also holds it together. I use oatmeal soaked in a bit of milk.
Mine sometimes come out good and sometimes falls apart,
and when the latter happens, I never know what went wrong.

In any case, it's not one of the Gestapo's favorites,
but the Avatar seems to think it's OK.
