The term "Jim Crow" comes from a song called "Jump Jim Crow" which was part of a minstrel show .. Do some fucking research.

The most important laws came in the 1890s with the adoption of legislation segregating railroad cars in New Orleans as the first genuine Jim Crow law. .. Do some fucking research.

AND, as I've pointed out, these "laws" were a mechanism of the SOUTH as evidenced by the laws I POSTED.

IF one of those kids pointed a gun at the white guy he would have been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Hanging of the nooses from the "white tree" at the highschool was a very real threat and ONLY white people would play it off as being nothing more than a prank in poor taste. The whites in Jena have been allowed to threaten and intimidate blacks with little or no repercussions. We have laws in this country now that make all sorts of things terroristic threats. That is what hanging a noose from a tree is to a black person. ONLY in the south is threatening to lynch someone just seen as a bunch of cracker kids having fun.

Black americans are far and away the targets of racially motivated violence. I can't find geographic information in relation to these stats but I bet that the south is OVERREPRESENTED per capita in the number of racially motivated crimes against blacks.

You claim to be a counselor...I just reminded you of how the law works...as for the other disrespectful comments...I find both actions to be obnoxious and as I said it does not give anyone the right to committ battery and assault! No one is excusing fighting or battery. I saw the chair of the NACCP say on cspan, that his organization is not condoning the fight. He was saying that they want the law applied equally. That's all. And that's what I said early on in this thread. Its about fairness in the criminal justice system.

Hanging nooses on public property in a clear attempt to intimidate someone, is a hate crime or a threat. Its not a joke or prank that can be lightly dismissed. BB doesn't seem to understand the fundamental difference between protected hate speech, and criminal threats. These dudes can hang all the nooses they want in their house, on their farms, in their KKK clubhouse, or anywhere they want: as long as it doesn't constitute a public threat against other people.

No doubt that working class southern whites and working class southern blacks share the same trials and tribulations that all working americans do. And that divisiveness is a political issue used by the elites to distract the concerns of working americans. I mean, is there any other possible reason to fly the confederate flag over the state capitol of south carolina, or whatever?

That said, fairness in the criminal justice system I think is the issue at hand. We know there are racists in the south, as there are everywhere in the nation. But, I don't think these protesters came out merely to point the finger of accusation at any particular racist. I think they came out to protest the inequality in the criminal justice system.
