I am an American who watched the debate. Biden did fine. Something is wrong with Democrats trashing Biden. A self-destructive impulse.

Democrats have to stop wringing their hands about Biden. All Biden has to do to win is not die before the election. Stop reading the polls. They are wildly inaccurate before the Conventions and not exactly greatly accurate after the conventions. The Presidential election is not about any given candidate but a mandate by the public on the performance of the incumbent party. In this respect Biden is significantly ahead of Trump. Then there is the question of demographics and the numbers there certainly don’t add up in Trumps favor. The data is showing that independents, and I mean true independents and not those who claim to be independents but vote consistently for one party. Independents essentially will decide the outcome with there votes and if we go by the outcome of the midterms, which is certainly a legitimate predictor, Independents have broken against Trump by a 4-1 margin. Something extraordinary will have to happen between now and the election for Biden to lose.

So relax and chill and stop the hand wringing. It won’t help. The worst move Democrats can make is to give up the advantage of incumbency by replacing Biden because that would unquestionably improve Trumps odds of winning significantly.

What Biden really needs to be prepared for is the threat of violence that Trump supporters are obviously capable of when they lose.
