That's right. I am such a "party first" hack that I constantly bash republicans like McCunttel and Ryan on this site. You are the hack.

You think you are being cute playing this little game by picking the most liberal Republican and trying to make yourself sound "bipartisan" and "independent" thinking. It is a schtick and you are just sad that I am on to your schtick.

As I said, I watched for months leading up to the 2008 primaries where lefties (don't worry, I am not saying you did it lest you get your feelings hurt) said things like "McCain is a Republican I can support" and "Man McCain is really a Maverick"

As soon as he got the nomination, they eviscerated him. Had Kasich gotten the GOP nomination, you would have gotten right in line with the lefties and claimed he tried to kill grandma and starve kids during the 90s. Stop with this pretense that you are trying to portray.

You like Kasich because he goes after Trump and he takes many liberal positions now such as open borders, expanding medicaid among others. I oppose Kasich because of the positions he has recently taken on issues. I don't give a flying fuck whether there is an R behind his name or not.

If you feel that strongly about it, you would take money out of your own personal pocketbook and buy him health coverage. Why don't you do that? Why do you expect others to do that which you won't do yourself? What would you be willing to sacrifice in your own life so that mason can have health coverage? Anything at all?

I haven't voted Dem since 2008. I started at least a dozen threads calling out Hillary for her war vote, weak positions, dishonesty, lack of core principles, bad campaign and overall lameness as a candidate. To this day desh is relentless about saying I "trashed" her the whole campaign.

I also started more than a few threads promoting Kasich - I don't care what you think; he was my top choice, in either party.

You have always done 2 things: projected your own party-first hackery onto me, and lumped me in with "Joe Liberal." I'm not either.

Kasich is a true conservative - much more than Trump. You probably loved him in the '90's; he certainly isn't a RINO. He has a lot of positions I disagree w/, but he's principled and would have been a great leader.

Your first sentence is ludicrous. Trump wasn't even close to the first choice of the GOP. There are as many NeverTrumpers in the GOP as there are amongst you liberals. Yes, you are a liberal, but like many you are just too embarrassed to admit it.


I really didn't follow Kasich that closely back in the 90s. But, the reality is that no real conservative would expand medicaid. Look, I encourage Kasich to challenge Trump in 2020. I want him to do it. I want you to fail yet again. Nothing could make me more happy than to see that happen.

Do you really think Kasich would have had a chance against Hillary? He would have failed miserably. She would have eviscerated him and you would have run from him after the calls of him being a racist, hater of old people etc emerged if he had won the primary in 2016

I mean, Trump beat Hillary - think about that. A capable candidate like Kasich, with an actual record of accomplishment? She would have lost not just the electoral but the popular as well. No way she wins that race.

What kind of alternate universe do you live in? Kasich was a non factor in the Republican primary. Even if Trump had never run, who in that field would Kasich have beaten?

Kasich is the type of "republican" who appeals to liberals like you but turns off the conservative base. They would have revolted in the general and Hillary should have smashed him. Kasich would not have been able to withstand the onslaught that would have hit him in a general election.

And if you think that the Democrat Media Industrial Complex would not have viciously attacked Kasich then you are more deluded than I thought

That the rest of the world wants to bankrupt themselves with irresponsible welfare programs is no reason for us to do it.

If you really want more choice and lower cost in healthcare, then the last thing you want is to have the government involved. There is nothing government lays its hands on that involves more choice and lower cost. It is incongruent. That you continue to believe it means you are either ignorant of economics or you just want others to pay for your shit.

Further, this used to be a democracy; the government is exactly as good as the people who vote for it.

Walk around London and ask people if they would trade their National Health Service for our healthcare system. Or their system of higher education for ours.
Ask European Union citizens if they'd rather pay lower taxes and give up their social safety net.

Many Americans--especially people from not on the coasts-- are happy to believe what they're taught to believe rather than find things out for themselves.
One must get around a little bit.

Again, an unsophisticated answer. European nations have immigration laws. As a retired person, I'm not welcome to move there. Or even to Canada. I didn't pay into their social systems during my working years and thus I don't deserve to share in it now.

Why wasn't this information obvious to you?
You don't get around much.
And you either didn't go to or didn't pay attention in school.

I assume that you're younger than I.

You have time for self-improvement if you have it in you.

You could have moved when you were younger. But you wanted to live comfortably in the best country, and then virtue signal when you got into your older years. Hopefully your retirement planning went better than this.
