Well, he looked-up the facts of all the territories I mentioned, so he isn't wrong. I think the reason why Cuba was never acquired as a territory was politics. Cuba would have likely been settled by southern interests, and Republicans didn't want that to happen.

When Spain left these lands, they sold Puerto Rico to the US....about 15 or 20 million, I think....Spain refused to sell Cuba to the US and in 1898 Congress passed joint resolutions supporting Cuban independence and they gained formal independence in 1902...........in truth, I have no idea what party positions were at the time concerning Cuba and I can't guess whose interests would have taken precedence....

Cuba had a very interesting and somewhat violent history in 17/1800's
Spent over a year there and its quite a nice island....wish we did own it...:)

We also "bought" California and the southwest from Mexico at the conclusion of the Mexican War. Later on we made the Gadsden Purchase, which finalized the border as we know it.

Did you ever carry out a code red while you were in Cuba? :D

This also underlies the rejection by many leftists of the concept of mental illness and of the utility of IQ tests. Leftists are antagonistic to genetic explanations of human abilities or behavior because such explanations tend to make some persons appear superior or inferior to others. Leftists prefer to give society the credit or blame for an individual's ability or lack of it. Thus if a person is "inferior" it is not his fault, but society's, because he has not been brought up properly.

Racists are just more intelligent than you and don't believe the pseudo-leftist science that we're all born equal. Stop projecting your crippling sense of inferiority.
