Kill The Bill!

Look. It's a chart:

Republicans had no problem utilizing this procedure when they were in the majority. Suddenly it's "tyrrany!"

Hilarious.

I think passing the bill and the amendment at the same time through the self-executing rule is stupid and a mistake, but the Republican hypocrisy on the issue makes me want the Democrats to do it anyway.

What He Said!

Funny you claim that because Republicans have used this method of passing bills.

No, I am sorry Jarhead... NO ONE has done THIS before! It is unprecedented!

The procedures being used to pass this bill, have NEVER been used to pass this kind of sweeping legislation.... EVER! This level of entitlement spending has NEVER been implemented without a single vote from the opposition party in either house of Congress! This is the largest government program since Social Security, and the bills for it, have ZERO bipartisan support!

No Jarhead... these sort of procedural loophole rules are generally used for things we pretty much all agree on, and it's a matter of formality vs. logistics, and to make life a little easier for politicians trying to get out of town for recess and such. These "rules" were never intended to be used like this, and the Slaughter Rule is specifically formulated to deal with only this!

I am really thinking maybe this is Nancy bluffing... trying to sway some 'on-the-fence' democrats into thinking it is going to pass one way or another, so they may as well agree to support it with a legitimate vote. I saw a clip on Fox a minute ago, Obama talking to Nancy (in the street?) ...I hope he was telling her not to pull the trigger on this, because it's over if they do.

I know you pinheads are all giddy, and we'll have to go round you up from under the willow tree when the field trip is over, but you have to know this is political suicide, and the backlash is not going to be pleasant at all. I know you think if you can just get it passed, it will be there forever, but I don't believe that is the case, and I don't think this bill will ever become the law of the land, I think it will meet with almost immediate Supreme Court challenges, and will ultimately fail. As this all plays out, you will come to regret your enthusiasms and orgasms over what Nancy is currently trying to pull.

It's time for LEADERS to step up! It's time for someone to say, look... we will KILL THE BILL for now... we will go back to our constituents, talk about what we want in a health care reform bill, and come back in the fall to revisit the whole thing, and come up with a BIPARTISAN bill we can all support. What blows my mind is, this is a PERFECT opportunity for the President to do exactly what he promised to do in his campaign, and put an end to the partisan bickering. He could come out and say... Hey, this one's on me... I'll take the blame, I'll take the heat... but I can see that America is not ready to pass what we currently have on the table, and I believe we can do better! Obama could turn this into a HUGE political plus for himself... but he won't!

SO they have used this measure, just not on a bill that you disliked so much. I see the difference.

I remember how excited you were when Presidnet Bush Nominated Boulton to be Ambassader to the U.N. while Congress was not in session, just to avoid a comfirmation vote!

Has it ever been used except to decrease a budget on a bill?

I agree a public option would make it better. Clearly! And I still hope they will add one later, but this bill is better than what we have now and the insurance companies are not monopolies, you have many choices... do you know what a monopoly is?

3 out of 4 of the healthcare insurers in Mass after healthcare reform ARE losing money, so you will end up with less choice and for some a higher possibility of monopolies.
"Three of the four major health insurers in Massachusetts showed operating losses for 2009."

He doesn't know, he has a chart though!

My question is, and I don't know the answer either, has it ever been used to pass legislation that would never pass otherwise?
I don't know the answer to that. I do know that the process has only been used to settle minor budget differences between the two bills by taking the lesser of them. So to use of this process to ram shit down the People's throats then claim "The Republipukes did it too" is disingenuous at best. I call it fraud and it fools no one but fools.

Do you resort to name calling and personal attacks every time you are owned in a thread?

AREA CODE (202)

If you haven't done so, and even if you have... do it again! Look up your representative's phone number here, and call him/her today! If it's busy, keep trying until you get through. Let them know you are opposed to this mess, and if they allow it to pass with this procedural "no vote" rule, there will be a political price to pay.

Now is the time to stand up! Break yourself away from the distractions and diversions the pinheads are flooding the board with here, they will be here when you get back! This is IMPORTANT! This MUST be done NOW! If we allow this to happen, we have lost our country, we have lost our Constitution, and we are effectively ruled by a Socialist body and dictator!

Ha ha ha Still as rabid as ever Dixie?

It must bring you to tears to see poor kids getting healthcare. It is just so un-Christian!

Has it ever been used except to decrease a budget on a bill?

Has it ever been used to decrease a budget on a Tuesday night when it's raining and those sponsoring the legislation are left handed?

Hows about you find a few more ways to split that hair, eh QueerBoy?
