Leftists haven't got a clue what the Right is thinking

T. A. Gardner

Thread Killer
One more proof that the Left hasn't got a clue what the non-Left thinks:

More interestingly, this tendency increases with education. The most clueless Leftists are ones with graduate degrees. Seems getting a university education and staying in that academic bubble really does make you stupid...

A 2018 study asked 2,100 adults to identify what they believed about a wide range of political issues and then asked them to estimate what people in the other political party believed about those same issues.

The study found that centrists and those not interested in politics did much better at estimating what the other party believed than politically involved partisans. But while a person’s level of education made no difference when Republicans estimated what Democrats believe, the more time Democrats spent in school, the worse they did at identifying what Republicans believed. Democrats with a high school degree did worse than those without. Democrats with a college degree did worse than high school graduates. And Democrats with a graduate degree did worst of all.

I wouldn't want to know. The mind of a Trump cultist is a dark, hateful, ignorant place. But I can observe, and actions represent positions. I know the position of the Trump cult. I don't have to guess. They repeat it over and over and over and over and over and over and over.

The Washington Examiner is an American conservative news website and weekly magazine based in Washington, D.C. It is owned by MediaDC, a subsidiary of Clarity Media Group, which is owned by Philip Anschutz.[2]

A right wing rag

The Examiner has been described as and is widely regarded as conservative.[21] When Anschutz first started the Examiner in its daily newspaper format, he envisioned creating a competitor to The Washington Post with a conservative editorial line. According to Politico: "When it came to the editorial page, Anschutz's instructions were explicit – he 'wanted nothing but conservative columns and conservative op-ed writers,' said one former employee."[3]

I think Gardner believes if the left does not agree with his politics it can only be because we don't understand.

So, your thread is posted in bad faith. You do not want a discussion.

Rather then demand I figure out your specific views on a subject, which are irrelevant to a wider discussion on views the Left holds about the non-Left which are statistically relevant (a sample size of one-- eg., you is irrelevant), talk about how the Left in general gets it wrong and why.

The main reason the Left gets it wrong is they dominate media. That is, the Left lives in a bubble surrounded by only their own ideas and positions. This is increasingly true with increased levels of education where those on the Left who are most academically papered get the least diversity of views on anything leading to their belief in incorrect positions about the non-Left.
The non-Left by comparison gets plenty of exposure to Leftist views through media and also has exposure to their own segments of the political spectrum leading to a broader understanding of Leftist thinking. This has long been found to be true. It's not something new and suddenly exposed.

None of that made sense. I think your thread is just another example that you are a troll and cannot defend your own assertions.

I guess so. But I understand hatred, fear, and demagoguery. It's the authoritarian playbook. Hell, Gardner posted probably the most offensive thing I've seen on this board when he joked about exterminating nests of homeless people with spray. Zeig Heil!!! Trump wants to be installed as a dictator, and the entire Republican party is supporting him. Grassley called himself 'smart' for accepting Trumps endorsement. It just makes him a traitor to his country. He probably would have accepted Hitler's endorsement too. Because that's where Republicans are now. They want a white Christian country run by a dictator. Nothing more, nothing less.

The party that complains about freedoms, wants to elect a guy who admires despots and wants to be President for Life. I don’t understand this love of authoritarianism.

From Mel Brooks, The Producers: "No one talks about what a great dancer Hitler was!"

He may be a despotic dictator, but he hates the same people they do. And hate is their engine.

It's interesting that the author of that piece failed to name the actual study. I'm sure the reason was so he could cherry pick some data and not get called out for it.

Is it possible that the study concluded that all the Republicans were worse than the Democrats with graduate degrees in identifying what the other side believed. The ignorance of Republicans didn't change based on education level. They were all equally ignorant no matter their education or lack of it.

It is ironic that Gardner asserted the left does not understand the right, then refuses to explain himself.
