Let's Go, Get Woke, America!

Getting woke is the best thing that every American can do.

Caring about the concerns of others, having compassion.

When people look out for others, it creates the best situation for a country to be productive and thrive.

Happy citizens, nobody being left out or discriminated against, what's not to like about that?

You know, all the BS about CRT is just racist hatred boiling over.

It was a trigger issue designed to trigger hateful people.

The best thing America could do is to teach all about all of our racist history in every school in the land so that everyone coming of age understands the shame of our past and shares a desire to create a better future.

People learn to be racists as they are brought up in racist families, and socialize with other racists. Schools need to teach young people that racism is wrong and that they should ignore their parents, their upbringing, all their racist friends; and do what is right for America.

We should endeavor as a nation to break the terrible cycle of cross-generational racism.

Here's how it ought to be:

Woke teacher to class:

"Good morning class. We are going to talk about something today that is a big problem for America. Some of you are racists. Not all of you, but some. We are not going to single out any names. You don't mean to be. You don't think you are, and you certainly don't want to be called racists, but it is the truth. It is because your parents are racists. Racists rarely want to admit that they are racists, so they go to great lengths to fight that. But the truth is the truth.

Nobody is born a racist. People learn to be racist. They learn it at home from their parents and from their friends. They just don't know any better. Good smart Americans reject that. It's not easy when you were brought up that way; and that is how racism continues even though it is wrong. We need bold people to understand all of this and put their foot down to break the cycle. Every one of you should ask yourselves if your parents treat black people differently, or joke about them or use bad words. If that is going on in your family and with your friends, you need to refuse to agree with them and distance yourself from that attitude.

We can make a better America and it happens one person at a time. You should pledge allegiance to a better America by pledging to let racism end in your life. Shut it down. That will help make America greater. We can talk more about this later, and you should know that our school has counselors you can talk to about how to deal with this. It's important, so don't forget it. Please do your part to make America greater. Thank you."

So when your kid comes home and says "I learned at school today you are a racist" what are you going to tell your kid, "No, I vote Democratic and call myself woke so therefore I can't be racist, your teacher was actually talking about other kids parents"?

The Woke Act.

The US Congress should pass a woke combating racism law providing funding for every school, particularly those in heavily racist areas to have anti-racism counselors available for every student who would like to have someone to talk to about this important problem in our nation.

Everybody who is convicted of hate crimes and sent to prison should have all of their wealth confiscated to help fund the new Woke Act.

Good morning cawacko,

Everyone will have to decide for themselves what the proper response to that situation should be.

But the situation needs to occur.

Unless you've got a better idea of how to try to end racism?

Does anyone think racism will just go away by itself unless something is done?

We need to keep trying new and different approaches.

Actual woke approaches.

Not the bastardization of the word that the right wants to redefine.

You can't end racism because it's impossible to eradicate bigotry, stupidity and hate from the human population. What we can do is maximize tolerance and keep racism out of our institutions and government.

Unfortunately, any government plan to force racism out of the population always ends up institutionalizing racism.

Example: Affirmative Action. As the link points out, even though it has evolved from being highly racist to less racist, it's still institutionalized racism.

We cannot get rid of racism by institutionalizing racism any more than we can save a village by destroying it.

Teach tolerance and the fact all Americans share exactly the same rights. Teach why depriving one group of citizens of rights compared to others is always bad for everyone in the end.

True, which is why I said we need to try to end racism. I didn't claim that we could end it.

I refuse to accept that nothing can be done.

Leaving aside that we'll never end racism or bigotry telling kids to go tell their parents they're racist probably wouldn't top my list of how to work to reduce it. Again, how would you respond to your kid saying that? You going to defensive and claim you're not? Or are you going to acknowledge your own racism to them?

And it would be an interesting conversation when minority children go home and tell their parents they are racist.
