Libertarianism

only heterosexuals should get married, it's the law.
You shouldn't do any drugs when not harming someone else, it's the law.
Mexican border jumpers shouldn't come here, it's the law.

I assume there is a point here.

Standing around outside of a bank with a loaded gun goes beyond what is law .. it's mindlessly stupid based on simple common sense.

But then again, everyone does not possess simple common sense.

the point is just because something is a law does not equate to it necessarily being acceptable. Surely you have better reasons to pay taxes other than just saying "it's the law."

Umm it is a good start. I am allergic to prison.

Are you keeping up?

I've never said I had any problems paying taxes .. didn't you read "and you should" after my comment?

Are you suggesting that wearing a loaded gun while standing outside of a bank is "acceptable?"

He's saying that just because somebody says, "It's the law" does not mean that the law is always Just or even right.

I'm saying that paying taxes is not only the law, but it's right, just, and it makes good sense .. and I'm saying that standing around a bank with a loaded gun doesn't make sense irrespective of what the law says.

What does standing around a bank with a loaded gun have to do with this conversation?

Did I miss a post where somebody insisted it was a fantastic idea to stand around banks with guns?

Technically it is not illegal in much of the uSA to stand outside of a bank with a loaded gun. As long as it is exposed, not actively threatening anyone, or you have a permit for carrying it concealed.
Now inside of a bank can be another issue.

Oopps, my bad.

I was thinking of a different conversation.

However, I still maintain .. in spite of the brain fart .. that paying taxes is a good idea and the right thing to do.

Well, I missed that one too. But all is good. Taxation is not a foregone conclusion. Taxation without representation = Bad. Not all tax is good, not all tax is bad. The best taxation system is one that allows the government to the least amount of unneeded information into your personal life, ie Consumption taxes...
