Since Congress granted him permission to suspend habeus corpus against seditious persons, it was done properly. Kind of like how 3rd Amendment protections go away in wartime.

Some American you are to support the Confederacy over your own country.

Prob look em is, this was well before 1863. Before secession.

I shall try to correct errors when shown to be errors; and I shall adopt new views so fast as they shall appear to be true views."


So, there you have it, straight from the pen of "Honest Abe" himself. For Lincoln the conflict was all about saving the Union, NOTHING ELSE. He believed it was imperative that the Union survived to provide an example that free men can rule themselves without a Monarch. Right Domer ?

I that most people that aren't subscribing to political dogma and indulging in Presentism know this to be true.
