Looks like Brexit unlikely!

Unfortunately, the political elite is mindlessly committed to leaving, and so they've blocked all calls for another referendum. It would be nice if that elitist effort failed, and the UK avoided this disaster. But the British leadership being composed disproportionately of inbred public school twits whose skills are mostly confined to genital-swine contact, I don't expect the disaster to be avoided.

You are kidding with this, right? The political elite is mindlessly committed to leaving? Most of Parliament is committed - mindlessly or not - to staying, or as close as they can get to it, by hook or by crook.

Otherwise, why the hell do you think they haven't left by now?

That's kinda funny, I asked a straight question on Brexit, nothing tricky, nor double edged, and the poster that keeps telling us he is the only one that understands what is transpiring can't answer it

Got to believe he don't know, least whatever British demogogue he listens to hasn't given him the answer yet

Want to try again, tell us, what happens to Northern Ireland and the border separating it from a EU nation?

Nothing happens, it has been made into a huge problem by Leo Varadkar for his own political ends and taking up by the EU to ensure that the UK stays in the Customs Union. The EU were offered the Max Fac solution but they turned it down flat, they have never wanted to 'solve' the problem. We have seen how the EU operates over more than four decades, they always act the same way, preferring intimidation to honest negotiation. If they are worried about tariffs then the EU needs to set up their own system. How do you imagine it works in countries like Switzerland and Norway?

Now you can see why "truthie" has to rely on corny copy and paste videos

"51.9 per cent of those voting supported leaving the EU. Yet the British Parliament says FU to their voters. Why pretend this is democracy?" and that is not implying "the majority will expressed by vote is sacred and worthy of utmost respect?"

Now I see the claim "we are not a democracy but a Constitutional Republic" has been exchanged for we are now a "Republic of States," just as equally lame. Fact is the US is a Democratic Republic, we elect our leaders democratically to represent us in republican form of Gov't..

And the Founding Fathers bit is amusing, the major reason they instituted the electoral college is because they didn't trust the people:

It was equally desirable, that the immediate election should be made by men most capable of analyzing the qualities adapted to the station, and acting under circumstances favorable to deliberation, and to a judicious combination of all the reasons and inducements which were proper to govern their choice. A small number of persons, selected by their fellow-citizens from the general mass, will be most likely to possess the information and discernment requisite to such complicated investigations. It was also peculiarly desirable to afford as little opportunity as possible to tumult and disorder. This evil was not least to be dreaded in the election of a magistrate, who was to have so important an agency in the administration of the government as the President of the United States. But the precautions which have been so happily concerted in the system under consideration, promise an effectual security against this mischief.
- Hamilton, Federalist Papers

Does someone have a moron translator for this word salad?

They will , eventually, agree to revoke Particle 50.

In one of the non-binding votes in parliament this week, nearly a third of MPs voted in favor of revoking Article 50. Do you know what's holding most of the others back? Data like this:

ComRes opinion poll conducted March 22 -24, 2019:

If MPs vote to revoke Article 50 and go against the referendum result of 2016, would it damage the democratic process beyond repair?

Agree 53%
Disagree 24%
Don't know 24%

Clear enough? Those MPs know that if they came out and stopped Brexit dead - which they would love to do - the fallout would destroy their own careers and likely break their parties too. That's why they haven't screwed up the courage to do it - yet.

The American voters elected Hillary Clinton with a majority of the votes, and yet you celebrated government by the minority and danced with glee that the Republican Party was rewarded with a stranglehold on the federal government even when most voters voted against them.

The United States of America is not a democracy, you blithering fool.

……....
Didn't read a word.

I do not engage with, or treat as serious posters those dunces who engage in libel and who post the private information of other on the open forum. You should never be trusted with private communication or personal information of any kind. By anyone.

So why did they vote to leave?
The elites want to stay because the elites are Globalist Capitalists. They generally want big countries with as many people as possible, because that means more customers.

Should the UK establishment succeed in removing itself from the judicial oversight of the European courts it will be free to continue its exploitation of the UK public purse. Social services, human rights- all the progress made by the united countries of Europe- the victims of two world wars- will be plundered and discarded.
They see their profits in LEAVING the EU, not staying in it.
Just check out the financial standing of the foremost Brexiteers. Haw, haw........haw.

The evidence suggests that there'd be a much heavier majority for Remain if we had a new vote, and it's fairly clear that the great majority of those who control politics regarded the original decision as nuts, but went along with it because they thought 'Ze Peepul' had appeared once and forever in 2016 and then, presumably, gone away to Heaven with so many of the older Brexiteers. A small minority decided that this was their golden chance to gain wealth and power, and fuck the country with everyone else in it! They are the scum of the earth, and believe in nothing. The traditional socialist position was that the EU was so utterly capitalist that we'd never get socialism that way, but since then Thatcher has descended like the Goths and Vandals and destroyed so much of British society that we'd do better to work with our EU comrades. Nothing can be much worse than what the Brexiteers are doing to us.

I really do sympathize. I never forget for a moment that all Brits are not the same low-brow nest-featherers as maggot.

It now appears that The Mantis is going to attempt to blackmail her own MPs by threatening to call a general election unless they vote for her sewer of a ' deal ' to get it through.
Now- what does that say about the Conservatives hopes of winning a general election ? HAW, HAW, HAW.........HAW.

The evidence suggests ...

Oneuli would like to see a confederation of Wales, Scotland, the Irish Republic and Northern Ireland. Then they could all stay in the EU, even though Wales voted 52.5 - 47.5 to leave. What do you think of that, Iolo? Good idea, eh?

I would like to see a confederation of Massachusetts, Georgia and Cuba, then they could join Canada. Wow! But that's just me. :awesome:

Oneloony hasn't a clue about UK or EU politics but then again, apart from a few, like your good self and Kacper, neither do many on here. Even Mervyn King the ex-governor of the BoE is saying we should just go out on WTO rules. That has to be far better than allowing a bunch of unreconstructed Marxist bullshitters like Corbyn and McDonnell totally wreck the economy with their loony ideas.

You know very little about UK politics yourself, maggot- because your ...er...mind is closed and hermetically-sealed with hardened capitalist horseshit.

GB stays in!!!!
