WASHINGTON – A Marine Corps officer was arrested Thursday and charged with assaulting police officers at the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, making him the first service member on active duty charged for his role in the deadly riot, the Justice Department said.

Warnagiris, 40, who's stationed at the Marine Corps Base in Quantico, Va., is facing several charges, including assaulting, resisting or impeding officers, obstruction of law enforcement, and obstruction of justice. He is among several dozen people with ties to the military who are facing charges related to Jan. 6. The Justice Department said it has charged four guardsmen and reservists and about 40 veterans.

Will he be hanged from the neck until he's dead, God have Mercy on his soul?

Or will he be running as a Republican for congress?

This moment will ruin the guys life. I wonder if he feels it was worth it. Did he think of his family and how this would affect them? I always wonder about that.

$20 says that's exactly what is going to happen. The Marine Corps doesn't like it when Marines embarrass the Corps. They'll be especially hard on an officer. That asshole is going to do hard time. The only question is will it be a Federal pen or Leavenworth?

Will a felony effect his pension benefits?

Will a felony effect his pension benefits?

He'll be court martialed and that will strip him of everything.

BTW, in the military it's "do your 20+ or get nothing but a severance check." There will be no double jeopardy since he'll be charged under "Conduct unbecoming an officer". There could be other charges depending on the facts. Again, no double jeopardy.
