There's not as much of that here as you apparently believe. Deplorable, but a mere blip in the statistics. While your homicide rate started to rise after your 1996 ban on handguns, peaking in 2003. It's been dropping since. It wasn't until 2010 that it dropped back down to the 2006 rate.trends in homicide.

You clearly learned your history in Irish pubs. Reality was a little more complicated, but there's no point telling you until you sober up. My own country voted for Irish Home Rule with a much bigger majority, for instance, than Ireland ever did.
