Medieval America puts six to death .

The death penalty is not a deterrent, it's just an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth punishment?!! The death penalty is outdated and should be eliminated in this country too?!!
It may not be a deterrent but it is 100% effective against recidivism.

My personal opinion is that it is a deterrent to most…but that just one guys opinion. My first statement here is absolutely true though.

Five executions in six days. These primitives are not fit to govern a small toilet, let alone a state.

Why so upset? Your buddies and heroes in Hamas and Hezbollah believe in capital punishment, making women second class citizens, and demonizing gays.

Convicted murderer released in the '90s agrees to life sentence on 2 new murder charges

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — A convicted murderer who was run out of several Texas cities when he was released early from prison in 1993 pleaded guilty Monday to two new murder charges in a deal that allows him to serve life in prison and avoid the death penalty, over the objections of the victims' family members.

Raul Meza Jr., 63, served about a decade in prison for killing an 8-year-old girl in 1982 before he was released under laws at the time that gave him credit for good behavior behind bars.

He was charged in 2023 with killing 65-year-old Gloria Lofton in 2019, and 80-year-old Jesse Fraga, his roommate, in 2023. Meza pleaded guilty to capital murder in Lofton's death and to murder in Fraga's death. Meza will not be eligible for parole.

Guess what if this POS had been put to death for killing the 8 year old....these 2 people would still be alive today

FACT
Let's talk about those who were put to death and later found innocent. But that doesn't matter to you guys.

The US penal system should rehabilitate people, not murder them. Murder is not an example to set.
Rehabilitation doesn't work for the most part. Inmates willing to participate and better themselves should have the opportunity, but repeat offenders and those going through the motions to get out of prison just to commit more crimes (aka "career criminals") should be offed at the earliest opportunity. That sets an example that society will not tolerate those that won't learn from their mistakes and choose a life of crime.

No system is perfect. We tolerate some 35,000+ people dying a year in auto accidents because the value of motor vehicles to society far, far, exceeds that loss. That a few people are put to death mistakenly is a similar, acceptable, loss to society especially if the mass of persons put to death for serious and repeated crime deserve it and that makes society better and safer.

By definition an *accident* isn't a deliberate decision to kill someone.

In addition to innocent people being put to death, we also have the Innocence Project working to clear hundreds of wrongfully-convicted people, who luckily escaped being executed.

That's fine, but it's all no reason to eliminate the death penalty.

That's your opinion and you're entitled to it. I think the death penalty is morally wrong. People are going to come back with "murder is morally wrong also" and that's true, but we'd be talking apples and oranges. A murderer should be punished but I have a problem with an individual deciding that the murderer should be put to death., instead of given life w/o parole.

With POS like this in charge of in the Judicial System

Fact check: Did Kamala Harris block evidence that would have freed inmates?

Pro-Life, HAHAHAHAHA

Nope..not even close

In 2023, 24 were executed in the United States

In Iran 1,153 people were executed in 2023

Do I have to list SA and other ME countries?
We're talking about the USA, and we're *supposed* to be better than SA. Why don't you compare the US to the UK, Canada, Italy, Spain etc.?

These are the countries the US is lumped in with:
"There are 65 sovereign states with a very high human development according to the 2021/2022 Human Development Report.
Of these:
