Millions in Texas have lost power

Oh come on now! That's just temporary. The permanent version is:

No one but your kind of garbage ever said that Gore invented the internet.

Hey, I love Al Gore inventor of the internet. He started the whole globull warming project and then sold out his network to oil producing Arabs for $500 million. Heating this assholes swimming pool will heat an average family's home for 34 days. When recently cornered over his crazy energy usage, this fat prick bought some offsetting carbon credits FROM HIS OWN COMPANY. How cannot anyone dislike scum like Al Gore inventor of the internet?

It's a twist on Gore's words, but you are correct: Al Gore never claimed he invented the Internet. He just bragged about being part of it. The twist was just Bush campaign rhetoric like slamming Vietnam vets. Like most political rhetoric, there's an element of truth and a whole lot of bullshit.

BLITZER: ...Why should Democrats, looking at the Democratic nomination process, support you instead of Bill Bradley, a friend of yours, a former colleague in the Senate? What do you have to bring to this that he doesn't necessarily bring to this process?

GORE: Well, I will be offering -- I'll be offering my vision when my campaign begins. And it will be comprehensive and sweeping. And I hope that it will be compelling enough to draw people toward it. I feel that it will be.

But it will emerge from my dialogue with the American people. I've traveled to every part of this country during the last six years. During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet. I took the initiative in moving forward a whole range of initiatives that have proven to be important to our country's economic growth and environmental protection, improvements in our educational system.

During a quarter century of public service, including most of it long before I came into my current job, I have worked to try to improve the quality of life in our country and in our world. And what I've seen during that experience is an emerging future that's very exciting, about which I'm very optimistic, and toward which I want to lead.

Ted Cruz mocked for attacking California:

Texas politicians apparently love to attack other American states in their never-ending promotion of the Lone Star State as some kind of nirvana, wholly independent from the United States of America. Even their tourism advertising slogan makes clear Texas wants nothing to do with the rest of America: "Texas. It's Like A Whole Other Country." Governor Gregg Abbott often attacks the Golden State, sometimes with strange declarations revealing a desperate rivalry, at least on the part of Texas.

But it's this tweet from Texas GOP Senator Ted Cruz, still under fire for his role in the January 6 insurrection, that has many mocking him. Last summer, California suffered from rolling blackouts that were the result of "an extreme heat wave caused by climate change.

Rather than express sympathy, or say nothing at all, Cruz served up a mean-spirited attack on California for being "unable to perform even basic functions of civilization, like having reliable electricity.

California is now unable to perform even basic functions of civilization, like having reliable electricity.

Biden/Harris/AOC want to make CA’s failed energy policy the standard nationwide.

Hope you don’t like air conditioning!

Millions of Texans are now without power in the middle of a winter storm that's dropped snow and brought temperatures to below freezing. Dallas-Fort Worth airport saw a negative 1 degree temperature Tuesday morning. Texas is in crisis and to be fair, the only ones who should be mocked or criticized are the ones who contributed to the failed political systems that contributed to this disaster, and refused to accept and respond to the reality of climate change. People in Texas are hurting, and some have died. But now that tweet has come back to haunt Cruz.

He should be mocked.

That being said...the reason there are blackouts is that too many people are using too much power. The comparisons to the summer are false. It takes much more energy to heat a space than to cool a space.

Just grin and bear it.

PS: No...wind turbines are not the reason. Its freakishly cold in the 2nd most populated state in the Union. Thats it in a nutshell.

True dat. Isn't it interesting that with all the (D) presidents we've had in the last century or so, we still don't have any prison camps except for the one at Gitmo?

Have you ever been to Manzanar? :)

It's in the desert of the Owens Valley. I've never actually been there, just buzzed it a dozen times or so flying up the valley from MCAS Tustin to NAS Fallon.

Never heard of it.

According to local history, there was a POW camp up here for Germans in WWII. Some stayed on after the war and became citizens.

It was the Japanese Internment camp. There was a German one too in the South, but not as many Krauts were locked up. All the Japanese were locked up unless they wanted to fight in Europe.

There were also POW camps in the South.
