The Monday Night Football game between the Cincinnati Bengals and Buffalo Bills was suspended after a frightening injury on the field.

Bills defensive back Damar Hamlin suffered a frightening injury after a collision with Bengals receiver Tee Higgins. Hamlin initially got to his feet after the play, but collapsed backward after taking a couple of steps.

Medical personnel came to Hamlin’s aid and appeared to administer CPR to the player, according to the Associated Press.

Hamlin remained on the field for 16 minutes before being taken off in an ambulance as players from both teams gathered and prayed.

After Hamlin was taken off in an ambulance, players began to warm up as if to resume play. However, coaches from both teams met with officials, leading to the game being suspended until further notice.

When Mr. Hamlin made the tackle, the runner's head struck him square in the middle of the chest. In rare circumstances, such a blow can induce ventricular fibrillation even in young healthy individuals with no intrinsic heart disease, a phenomenon called commotio cordis. Cardiac output drops to zero and the victim collapses. CPR and defibrillation must be administered rapidly.

Commotio cordis has even been seen in little leaguers struck in the chest by a baseball.

Your common sense, medically-confirmed opinion is wasted on these losers.
