Asshat did you watch the show on sundance the other night about when oil runs out ?
That is going to trigger out downfall. when the demand for oil outstrips the supply, and that is darned soon.
Umm some could be telecommuting...
It's common for people to believe that our current state is the worst state ever. This has been repeated throughout history. But our debt has been about twice as high as this before, and was greater in the 80's too.
I do not believe that at all. I do believe the peak of our golden age has passed though.
And the excrement will hit the air movement device fairly soon.
Well those ages are never realized or appreciated till they are gone now are they ?We never really had a "golden age". We were never even as powerful in the world as Britian was at one time.

Asshat the globalization will reverse when it all ocmes tumbling down because of the loss of cheap oil.
The area daries and food processing will come back. the mega conglomerates will disperse back out as the distribution costs will be too high.
Smaller more dispersed businesses will become a necessity once again.
But times will not be as easy either.
I fear the same, that we have peaked, unless the middle class wakes up and does something, and from what I have seen, that isn't going to happen. I think
Americans are blissfully unaware of our REAL economic situation and they must always vote against their own best interest. I am trying to educate the younger generation. Some would consider that a scary thought!
Rubbish, it's been longer than that!America's been "in a period of decline" by doomsayers since the 1890's.

The Decline of the West (German: Der Untergang des Abendlandes) is a two-volume work by Oswald Spengler, the first volume of which was published in the summer of 1918. Spengler revised this volume in 1922 and published the second volume, subtitled Perspectives of World History, in 1923.
The book includes the idea of the Muslims being Magian, Greeks being Apollonian, and the Westerners being Faustian, and according to its theories we are now living in the winter time of the Faustian civilization. His description of the Faustian civilization is where the populace constantly strives for the unattainable—making the western man a proud but tragic figure, for while he strives and creates he secretly knows the actual goal will never be reached.
