More Good News For Gay Servicemembers!

Philly, how many enlisted men and warrant officers do we idolize in our history? All I can think of is the unknown soldier from WWII. Instead, it's all about Washington, Jackson, Scott, Taylor, Grant, Sherman, Pershing, Ike, MacArthur, Patton, Marshall, LaMay, etc.

I read a history book in 10th grade that incorrectly identified Oliver North as a general. I guess the author assumed that even the rank of Lt Col is small beans to be making history with.
 
This ban also helped the homo boys by the way. A lot of them were being assaulted and beaten after duty hours down town for revenge by the enraged servicemen. The ban was best served for everyone.

Before the ban, if everybody followed the code of conduct then there were only the usual occurrences of personal fights, vendettas, etc. and homos who were caught were quickly sent home and discharged. But now the other boys have no protection. They can't go to an officer and complain without facing retribution from the homos.

Regardless of what did or didn't happen in WWII, that's not at all germane to today's military. In today's military, many of our best soldiers are gay or lesbian, and it's great that they don't have to hide anymore and that they are getting so many benefits for their spouses. As the original op points out, there are still some benefits that aren't available to them yet, but hopefully soon they will be.

The opening up of the military is another sign that our country is advancing in the area of liberty. And it will NOT hurt our fighting ability; it will only help it as well-qualified people won't be kicked out of the military just because of whom they love.

The problem with you is you need a group pacifier and you don't like what I'm saying. If there was no homo morale problem in the services then they wouldn't have been banned in the first place. So why were black men banned? Why were women banned? And which comes first -the ban or the so-called morale problem that you haven't documented?

Look at McCarthy trying to get "commies" out of the govt, teaching positions, etc. What morale problem was there?
