(CNN) Once again Americans are grieving over lives lost to another mass shooting. On Monday, 10 people, including a police officer, were killed at a Boulder, Colorado, King Soopers grocery store. Just six days ago, we began mourning the deaths of the eight people killed in Atlanta.
Sadly, my family and I are no strangers to this type of tragedy.
Like many young parents, my husband and I chose to move to Newtown, Connecticut, to send our children to Sandy Hook Elementary School. We felt we had found the safest neighborhood in the nation to raise our children but on December 14, 2012, we learned that no neighborhood in America is safe from gun violence. My 20-year-old neighbor shot his mother in his house a few hundred yards from my home, then drove to the elementary school with an AR-15 and high-capacity magazines to kill 26 children and educators in less than five minutes.
A rate of fire over five minutes of 26 shots is 11 seconds per shot, a feat easily accomplished with a revolver, including reloading time. A magazine size restriction would've made no difference.
The length of time of the massacre at Sandy Hook was about 9 minutes, not 5 (CNN is lying again). The shooter was armed with an AR-15 rifle (the primary weapon used), two pistols, and a shotgun. The situation was resolved when the shooter shot himself with one of his pistols.
The reason the massacre was so bad was that there was NO ONE on school grounds that carried a gun to stop this deranged individual. Police did not arrive until it was all over. The 'gun free zone' did nothing to prevent the shooter from murdering so many. It DID discourage good people with guns from being there to stop this shooter.
Meanwhile, every other citizen in Newtown that carried a gun (and a lot of them own guns) did NOT go to the school to shoot students and teachers.
The AR15 rifle is an excellent design. It is flexible, rugged, and easily cleaned. It has many options and configurations available for it. It shoots a small round, reducing kickback. This makes it an ideal gun for home and property defense on farms and ranches, defense of a community, or even as a hunting weapon. The weapon can easily be handled by just about anyone including women.
The Sandy Hook massacre was not the biggest massacre in a school. That took place some time earlier, and the weapon was a bomb.
Gun Free zones do not work. Bomb free zones don't work either.

Well, if someone is going to kill themselves or kill someone else, the gun is far easier and quicker way to do it than any other method, possibly why they give that the gun, emphasis.
They also are giving opioids extra scrutiny too because it so easy to die from them too.
ANY attempted suicide will land you in jail or the puzzle factory, no matter what method

BTW, leaping off the platform in front of a subway works too. A belt or tie around your neck snuggly and then placed in a door jamb at a height comfortable enough to sit down on the floor can be completely painless. Having the knot press on the carotid is a bonus. This can be done by itself, but a bottle of your favorite liquor or some good drugs can speed the process of passing out. Once passed out, the person leans forward or sideways and is strangled after losing consciousness. Now tell me again how banning guns will stop suicides.
Don't need opioids when the liquor store sells vodka for $15 for 1.75 liters.
Suuuuure, putting suicidal people in jail for attempting suicide sounds exactly like the type of thing the fucking Democrats would do.

Of course not. There's no "nice" about cold-blooded logic. It's just logic. My entire lifetime has been wrapped about making life and death decisions for both myself and others. Emotion, regardless if being "nice" or being "mean", is a waste of time and energy.

Logic is logic. In my case it was completing the mission, the assigned task within established limits.
In the Marine Corps it was always "Mission First" followed by "Troop Welfare". Those two rules were paramount, with Mission First superseding all including, sometimes, the lives of those on the mission. We called it "Operational necessity".
