Murder, A New Moral Value

I have to make a run to town.........

I would have to ask you what part you do not understand?

The point is who declares this person to be a terrorist?

George W. Bush and his administration has/had hundreds of individuals locked up indefinitely in Guantanamo Bay. People that he and his administration have declared to be "terrorists" without trial or legal representation. I wonder how many of those don't even speak our language. I wonder how many of these individuals were just in the wrong place at the wrong time or pissed off the wrong Iraqi and were accused of crimes they did not commit. Without legal rights those who are innocent have no way to prove their innocence and thus must sit in prison maybe for the rest of their lives with no hope of freedom. And then we torture them continuously because they don't give us the answers we want?

I will close by saying you just want to bash GW...I said nothing about political issues in the hypothetical scenario...I said captured in combat...twist away...consult with Ms.Code Pink on this one

And sorry but you are wrong!

BB you were a Cop, did they let cops work on cases where family or friends were involved ? Ever hear of conflict of interest ?

Of course they did, they just had to bribe their Captains.

Cops are corrupt, and that's from the head down.

Well known fact.

Won't be the first or the last time, but I disagree with you. Torture is wrong regardless of the circumstances unless of course it is in a BDSM consensual agreement. ;)

Anyway, as far as I am concerned, we must maintain our moral backbone. We must defend the weak and the innocent even if it means letting a few of the guilty escape our grasp.

Sorry but you are wrong! We're are a civilized nation. We are not Al Qaeda, Iraq or muslim terrorists.

Or should I say we were a civilized nation?

Ahhh Back from the local Market.....

Had to pick up some vernors Ginger Ale and popcorn...as this thread is getting funny!

Now to address you comment above...have you been following the conversation?...I agreed with damo and immie on civilian court matters...addressed the 'Fruit of the Poisoness tree' law pertaining to evidence...I was addressing the captured terrorist hypothetical scenario I presented! What has this to do with cops and family in the states?

Well BB Immie covered the other apsects pretty well. And I agree with him. We are either a good country that protexcts the rights of the innocent or we are not. In any case we should not be a cruel country even to the guilty.

Damn! There is a first time for everything. :)

Immie

Naah not the first time, maybe the second one though :D

we still disagree on the death penalty I think. I am a bit mixed on that one.
Some either need to be killed or locked up for life. For the protection of the innocent.
But I fully support due process for all.

Death Penalty? You mean abortion? Yes, we do probably still disagree on that one. ;)

Ohh the A word, I was avoiding that one. I would hate to see this thread turn into an abortion brawl.
Yes we differ I would think, but i was referring to the actual death penalty for crimes.

It has been so long since I have been involved in an "A" word brawl.

I think we need a good one just before election season. Don't you? I mean things have been so dead around here and on FP.com lately.

Ohh we will have several. It will become a hot topic, at least before NOV as the Repubs try to polarize the one issue voters. Count on it.

Like they have a leg to stand on? Eight years of a "pro-life" President and not a damned thing to show for it. Grrr!

Immie

Isn't roe supposed to come up before the supremes again soon ?

Is it?

Is over-turning it the right step or would some sensible laws regulating it be a better step followed by education and a devoted effort to reduce them by what ever means possible?

We sure can't trust politicians, whether Democrat or Republican, to do anything about the problem.

Never mind, don't answer those questions. Neither one of us want to turn this thread into an abortion debate.

Its Immie, hey what up guy?

Are you mad at me for something?

Sorry, missed this earlier.

No, not mad at you at all. Just haven't been around much.

Care's not here and I just can't get into usmessageboard enough.

Except two likely votes in the SCOTUS. "Nothing to show for it." is a very skewed view.

I am sure there are many pro-abortion or pro-choicers that think there is far too much to show for it.

We have gotten nothing to show for it except words. The two new justices have done nothing and there is no proof that if and when the chance comes that they will do anything at all. This President has given us nothing, in fact, he has taken more away from us. He has degraded the U.S. Constitution so much that even civil discourse can lead to one being confined in Gauntanamo Bay or on the terrorist watch list.

How long will it take a Pro-abortion President to put a Pro-lifer on the Terrorist Watch list? Hell, I am not so sure that members of Operation Rescue are not on that list already. Hell, by simply participating on these boards and stating my beliefs, I or anyone on here, may be on such a list.

No, our President has done more to hurt us all than he has done good.
