So now we base govt. policy on polling? When did this start? Polling has indicated that a majority support reproductive freedom, i.e. abortion. Polling showed that SSM was favored by a majority. Polling showed that a majority favored the CDC, Dr. Fauci, and the recommendations to mask up and avoid large gatherings during the pandemic. Yet all these things are or were vilified by the idiot MAGATs.

BTW I did not disagree that there is plenty of waste and fraud in the federal govt. Probably in many statehouses as well. Today a Trump spokesman said they expected tariffs to bring in $500 billion to a trillion dollars over the next decade. This is for a government that will spend over 70 trillion dollars in that time period. You aren't funding the government with tariffs in this day and age. Even you have to see that tariffs will leave you about 69 trillion dollars short of funding the government.

That 60% of those paying taxes certainly includes millionaires and the like that make up that difference between 47.1% of
non tax paying workers and that 13% of rich people who do pay taxes. So, once again, the bulk of people--about 47% of
working Americans pay zero in taxes. If you have problems with those statistics then I suggest you contact the 'Statista Research
Department to get the facts.

You are clearly badly informed about what the bulk of American workers make each year. First of all the stats you used don't tell you anything about the number of people in each income category. Then the stats are based on tax returns which don't tell you how many workers there are for each tax return.

When digging into the IRS data, it appears that 50% of tax returns have an AGI of $50,334 and higher. That would include the bulk of working people since many of the lower income returns are retired people living on SS. (20% of SS recipients rely on SS for 90% of their income.)
Only 10% of returns have an AGI of $178,611 or more. Only 8% of returns have an AGI of $40,000-50,000. That is NOT the bulk of tax returns.
