Name one thing you agree with the opposing side on.

From what I've been reading about the Green New Deal and other progressive ideas regarding income, it seems like they want to supplement the income of a working person who doesn't earn enough to live on independently (i.e., not living with parents). So we have a choice between either doing that, or raising the minimum wage to the point where an individual can afford to live frugally by working only one FT job. Sounds fair to me. Of course I could be totally misinterpreting what they are saying. If so feel free to correct me.

I would love that. Raising the minimum wage is actually really bad, since it causes companies to fire people in order to save money. A much better way to redistribute wealth is taxing the rich and then just giving money to the working-class and funding social programs. I'm all for supplementing income.

Big deal, some parents aren't rich, or don't care. All that means is that some kids have a steeper hill to climb. Nothing about that is lack of opportunity.

But not everyone gets the same opportunities, or number of opportunities. This is what's meant by having an unfair playing field. I don't want a Communist country where the government forces equality. I just want society to be as fair as reasonably possible.

I've always had to make my opportunities, and I'm whiter than rice.

Imagine that. One group wanting to put another down because they think it will better themselves. Sort of like taxing the rich.

That's very different. Taxing the rich won't actually hurt them. If you have 20 billion dollars, and someone takes away one million through taxation, is that really going to hurt you? Would you even notice that money's gone?

They aren't talking about taking away 0.05%.
