Not So Absurd... Cars Kill, Let's Ban 'em

The punishment should match the crime. You're being absurd. You'd probably justify murdering a person for stealing a candy bar too.

We have a legal system, not a "justice" system.

And considering we are hoomans, I doubt that it will ever be fully just.

In liberal societies, US, we punish the action, we do not punish the person. Whether or not he's a "bad" person or not has nothing to do with the punishment for his action. There's no evidence here to suggest he is.

Maybe you think that all 21 year olds who drink are bad people and should be locked up forever? Absurd. I can't believe you accept this.

I long for a day whenever bloodthirsty Americans don't lock up addicts for years on end and sends people to jail for life without parole for stealing razorblades. It's not only unfair, it's just plain destructive to our society.

Umm let em all out and lets see where the crime rate goes :)

Destructive to our society is a personal viewpoint. Obviously most do not agree or we would not have these laws and punishemnts.

Locking up addicts and non-violent prisoners doesn't do any good. It inflames our society and drives our inner city kids into violence.

Locking up this kid for life is a crime against humanity. You know, US, you are evil.

The US has the by far the highest recividism rate of any nation. We make no attempt to reform, or punish our prisoners. It's basically a place where people sit around, watch TV, get raped a bit, and learn about how to become better good drug dealers. Once they get out they still have no education and cannot get a job. Mostly we lock up non-violent offenders - this is the primary concentration of our lawforce.
