Obama Breaks out.. 30% to Clinton 22% Iowa

Agreed.

I think many may like his ideas, they just see him as too boring and really are shooting for the candidate they would like to have a beer with. ;)

Give it up. Richardson is a blundering fool, who is constantly sticking his foot in his mouth. Having "great ideas" is not the test for a president. Otherwise, we could just elect some smart college professors, or wall street wizards.

Granted, Richardson isn't as bad of a blundering fool as Dubya. But, maybe the resemblance causes some Bush fans to like Richardson. Granted, Richardson may be a skilled diplomat. But, anyone who's watched those debates knows that richardson isn't presidential material.

Plus, he's got some serious skeletons in his closet that no one is paying attention to right now that would sink him in the general.

America is NOT going to vote for a leftist like Edwards. The Repubs would spend every waking hour painting him as an in the pockets of the trial lawyers, wealth redistibutin', gun grabbin', socialist. I know he is not that bad, but his positions on guns and taxes will lose him my vote. So what does losing MY vote really mean?

I am 42 years old on Dec 27, and I have voted in every election Since Reagan Mondale. In that time I have voted Mondale, Dukakis, Clinton, Clinton, Gore, Kerry. I was president of College Democrats in 1992 and 1994, I was VP of students for choice. I have refused to vote Republican because of the overwhelming control of the party by the RR and their theological bend and authoritarian biological imperative. I will NEVER vote for Edwards. Not EVER. If he is the Dem nominee and anyone but Paul is the Repub nominee I will for the first time in my life vote for a third party. And I am not alone. There are lots of Fiscally conservative to moderate dems and independants that will not be able to stomach Edwards. By election night of 2008 Edwards will have been called every thing from a fellow traveler to a pinko and it will stick.

wow, Obama was nearly the worst in the debates.
Is Cypress really a closet sexist????

That's a stupid charge, and it's getting old already. Because someone sees Hillary for what she is (as in PHONY), it does not make them a sexist.

Also, while I agree it wasn't his best performance, Obama did well in the debate.

Or are you taking your cues from CNN's "objective" post-debate panel, which included longtime Clinton friend & supporter James Carville, former Clinton employee David Gergen & a Republican?

This is the problem with throwing around poorly defined labels. Edwards isn't a leftist. Noam Chomsky is a leftist.

Other than a very modest universal healthcare position, Edwards platform has nothing to do with socialism, communism, or leftism, or government takeovers of the economy. It has to do with fair trade, taking on lobbyists and entrenched special interests, civil rights, global warming, jobs, and Iraq.

WASHINGTON -- Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards said he would raise the capital gains tax rate to 28% from 15% and boost income taxes on those making more than $200,000 a year in order to finance tax cuts and other benefits for middle- and lower-income families.

Capital gains tax increases DO lose me as a voter.

That's another one for the "pennywise, pound foolish" file...

Really like what? I haven't been paying too much attention to him.
He MAY have been involved in some of the backdoor machinations during the Lewinski affair, he says he was a draft pick of the 1966 KC A's, probably THE lead in the Wen Ho Lee case. Also there were rumors when he ran here for Governor the first time that he was a womanizer, and complaints in the second election that he was a scoff law because he ordered his motorcade and their police escort to speed on the highways to get to meetings faster.

Nah. he flat out said he'd raise taxes to finance a slew of social programs. The democrats need to start focusing on cutting spending and then introducing program. I'm sorry but we pay waaaay too much for what little we get in return.

Edwards is playing to the religious crowd to much, he's not as pro medical marijuana as Hillary. As I have said before he is a POSER

He MAY have been involved in some of the backdoor machinations during the Lewinski affair,

Who cares! Bush has upped the level on my presidential "give a $hit radar"

he says he was a draft pick of the 1966 KC A's,

I don't even know what that means.

probably THE lead in the Wen Ho Lee case.

Who?

Also there were rumors when he ran here for Governor the first time that he was a womanizer,

At least he's not a congressional Page-anizer or a widestanced toe-tapper. Who cares.

and complaints in the second election that he was a scoff law because he ordered his motorcade and their police escort to speed on the highways to get to meetings faster.

LOL.

Ok while I KNOW he has nothing to do with Socialism, I do know that if all he had was "a very modest universal healthcare position" and was JUST all about "fair trade, taking on lobbyists and entrenched special interests, civil rights, global warming, jobs, and Iraq" I would vote for him over just about ANY republican. But he is on the record as saying that Gun ownership in this country is a privlege, and he rails agains the "top 2%" in this country like they stole their money from eveyone else. I love politics. I was activily involved in Clinton/Gore 92. I know that Edwards is NO WHERE CLOSE to Clinton Gore politically, My bet is that if Bill could run again he would win. Actually my bet is that if there was no constitutional limit on presidential terms we would be in the 4th term of Clinton and 62% of the population would have "4 more years" Bumperstickers on their cars.

Tiana, I don't know what this means. I don't know what you mean by a "slew of social programs". Its just a buzzword.

He supports universal healthcare. Okay. He supports increases in the minimum wage, strenghthening and enforcing labor laws, negotiating fair trade agreements, anti-predatory lending laws, increasing the EITC for working families, and probably some modest intiatives on education and poverty.

That doesn't seem that radical to me.

Edwards is probably the most pro-gun candidate in the democratic top tier. Probably something to do with his southern heritage.

I don't know what you've been reading, or if you even got the correct context.

John Edwards on the Issues:

Right to bear arms protected by Second Amendment, with rules

I believe the right to bear arms is protected by the Second Amendment. I also support reasonable measures to keep guns out of the hands of criminals, including closing the gun show loophole and vigorously enforcing gun laws.

Guns are about independence-don't mess with that

"It's very important for us as Democrats to understand that where I come from guns are about a lot more than guns themselves," said John Edwards. "They are about independence. For a lot of people who work hard for a living, one of the few things they feel they have any control over is whether they can buy a gun and hunt. They don't want people messing with that, which I understand."
