haha.. yah paying my mortgage in 15years, investing 15% of my income, driving $200 and under car payments, saving for my kids college is unwise compaired to u buying an audi... spending all your money at GNC, the mall, and gaybars is far better.

Additionally, housing and energy are up substantially from the early nineties and have far outpaced inflation. The impact of higher taxes would definitely be felt a lot more by the middle class.

7% for ssi and medicare (3.3)
5% state tax (2.35)
say 15% adjusted fed tax (7.05)
6% for retirment (3)
= 34000 or 2800 a month.
now deduct ur bills. lol u think thats middle class?
u cant even own a home.

all im sayinig precious is that my mom paid the bills bought groceries supported a household while i was growing up and that was roughly on 30K a year.

that was before it was $50 to fill up your car for the week in gas.. if u haven't noticed 30K 10years doesn't even buy you 60K today.
 
yet the same governeemnt thta brings you a dollar that is worth half of a euro is saying 150K is rich.
 
Also you guys probably bought the house at a time when you're house was extremely cheap compared to todays prices.
 
its a minimum of $200 a week now for groceries compared to just 2 years ago about 150 for the same food.. inflation is hear for sure.. REALLY bad past 6months.. just hasn't trickled out in numbers yet.

I can't think of any working age person on my middle class street that is making anything more than a small fraction of their annual income from investments. We all have jobs. We earn wages.

why not just cut social security and cut a whole shitload of programs? your talking about spending MORE money for free community college.

Rob can you name anything, anything at all that you have personally paid for that you would be ok with giving someone else for free no matter how much good it would do this country?

Obama offers plan for free community college

FORT DODGE, Iowa (CNN) — Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, announced Monday a proposed tax credit that he says would cover the cost of community college for most high school graduates.

"For too long policy makers in Washington have treated community colleges as a step child of the higher education system instead of essential resources for training and preparing the workers of tomorrow," Obama said at a press conference.

The presidential hopeful said the tax credit would cover the first $4,000 of college, which according to him would make community college "completely free for most Americans."

"These schools produce the lifeblood of our communities and the backbone of our workforce," Obama added. "As our changing economy demands a more skilled workforce, America's community colleges must be at the forefront of higher education and economic competitiveness."

Obama made the comments in front of students and reporters gathered at Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

I actually like this idea. I think it could also be coupled with welfare. Help those on welfare learn a new skill set that can help them to get a better job and move up etc....

Could probably add on some type of daycare as well to make it easier to attend classes for parents.

Education is the key. This would be one of the places to start.
