In the 1959 film version of Nevil Shute's novel On the Beach, Australian telegraph operators pick up an endless stream of apparent morse code from somewhere around San Francisco, in the northern hemisphere, where it is presumed everyone is already dead from the fallout after the nuclear war. The one surviving U.S. submarine is dispatched to find out who is sending the code and what it might mean. When the sub arrives near a San Francisco area power plant which is still operating, the team sent out to the source finds that there is a coke bottle caught in the pull ring of a window shade, and the wind is knocking it against a telegraph key generating random characters.
I'm sure the nonsense picked up from that wind-induced morse code was more lucid and intelligible than what I have seen come from the computer of evince. I can't help but wonder if there is a cat walking on evince's keyboard.
One last time, for evince. If the facts, as reported in the KTRH story, are true and complete, then the Tennessee man who shot that kid should go to prison. Evince, who clamors about listening to facts, would do well to provide some. As best I can tell, evince regards my sources--The FBI, the U.S. Census, and The Wall Street Journal--as all liars, even though two of the three are government agencies, so now I am ready to read facts from the credible providers, who so far are known only to evince. Who are they?
BTW, KTRH 740AM is a Houston, Texas-based radio station that originally broadcast from a small booth in the lobby of the historic Rice Hotel in downtown Houston. That's where its call sign came from. The "TRH" in KTRH stands for The Rice Hotel. One of the early 50KW AM broadcasters, KTRH is a talk station that has been part of Clear Channel for about 15 years. They broadcast both syndicated and local talk shows.
