Open Carry

Would you like to walk through East Oakland with me? You'll feel like you need a WWII tank to be safe.

I wouldn't fancy walking through south Manchester or the Meadows area of my own city, Nottingham, after dark. But I don't feel the need to carry a shooter. I just avoid those areas after dark.
What was that girl doing there at that time? It's her fault she got raped, she shouldn't have been there! And look at how she was dressed up to look like AnyOldIron and stuff.

let's set the record straight. we don't carry guns because we are afraid. We are unafraid because we carry guns.

as for fighting against tyranny, you still miss the point. IF any part of the military were to be ordered to shoot against american citizens, the politician(s) that gave that order would be the targets, as well as their families, friends, and neighbors that supported that decision.

You are unafraid because you carry guns...hence...if you didn't carry a gun you would be AFRAID.

Bottom line: You carry guns because you are afraid.

The only thing I fear is that my fellow citizens may be willing to give up freedoms so cheaply.

The douchebags that feel the need to openly carry at the local Starbucks are freaks.
I feel no need to really carry. I feel the need to promote this particular freedom, though.

I can already carry at any time I want to, the reality is since I've gotten my conceal carry permit I never have actually carried. However, I can legally carry at a Starbucks... if I wanted. You just wouldn't know.

Sadly not everyone is as centered as you.

People act like wearing their gun openly will protect them from all harm like some sort of invisible forcefield.

Bottom line, you wear a seat belt because you're AFRAID. You own a smoke detector because you're AFRAID. You have health insurance because you're AFRAID. Or does that logic not apply here?

It's all a matter of choice and weighting your options. I live in a city where being a bald, tattooed, Irish guy is enough reason to get shot at. I carry a gun and I have car insurance, both for the same reason. To be prepared for as much as I can be.

bottom line, you're just plain liberaltard wrong. or, are cops also afraid?

Have you visited a little planet I like to call Earth lately?

Have you watched cops draw their weapons at the merest hint that the person they have targeted might not cooperate?

How else to explain why a man celebrating his upcoming wedding had 41 bullets removed from his corpse after he didn't immediately do what the gutless gun weilders/cops told him to?

The ranks of the police force are filled with cowards afraid of a fair fight. They've taken a career path that allows them whip out their "manhood" and shoot anyone who scares them.

I wear a seat belt because the law tells me to.

I don't have any smoke detectors in my home.

I have health insurance because as I get older it would be stupid not to have someone ready to pay any medical bills

Being bald and tattooed are lifestyle choices. don't want to live in fear, don't look like some East LA gangbanger.

This is actually quite ignorant of current effective means used against that same military by people who are not much better armed than the US citizen.

I very much doubt US citizens will be supplied with RPGs by the Iranians. And after the Iraq war is over I would hope that the US military will have learnt the lessons of this type of warfare and be far more effective at dealing with insurgency.

And in the situation where a tyrannical regime came into place, opinions of whether tyranny was in place would differ. I would imagine that, as was mentioned before, factions would arise and a civil war would ensue. Which would allow access to military weaponry to both sides.

Which still makes the argument that keeping firearms as a defense against tyrannical govenment largely specious.

Actually, an american armed with a hunting rifle would be a fearsome military sniper. And that would provide more damage than an RPG.

Well that would be the smart thing to do but unfortunately for the residents of the neighborhood they can't really avoid it. And the unfortunate fact is issues in that small community easily spread to higher level income neighborhoods where on the surface one might feel safer but in reality dangers still exist. Now I personally don't own a gun but I would have no problem if my neighbor owned one (as long as they didn't shoot me).

Now this response I respect. I do not want to require people to own guns. I just don't want them to require that I not own guns.

Good viewpoint.

Actually, the wearing of a gun will protect them from some crimes. Criminals are scavengers, and will always choose the weaker prey.

On a side note, many of those who carry will step up and help those others who are being victimized.

The cops who did this are a tiny minority of those working in law enforcement. To use this sort of extreme example as a reason to make judgement calls against the millions who choose to own & carry firearms is ridiculous.

You wouldn't wear a seatbelt if the law didn't tell you to do so? So the gov't has to make you do the smart thing?

You don't have smoke detectors in your home? Are you a fool? Or are you just making this claim because you want to argue someone's point?

So I should choose to live differently? And what about me being Irish?

Fair or not, a lot of people judge others based on our looks and first impressions can go a long way in determining their response.

As for people wanting to shoot you because your Irish...how do they know you are Irish? You aren't constantly sporting a pot o gold are you?

Ok, since you don't understand what I mean, I'm white. I don't like to use the term to describe myself, but for sake of argument, yeah, I'm fucking white. Detroit is around 92% black. And many of them will shoot at me for being different (I've had it happen a few times).
