I've already commented on it. Several times.

I think it's fucking hilarious that you haven't said shit about this issue until now that, in your view, Pelosi is complicit.

And I could point out the various reasons why you are wrong but why should I bother? As I have said from jumpstart on these issues we need a new Church Commission to get the bottom of this crap, particularly in light of the new allegations that he Vice President's office pushed for torture of Iraqi detainees in order to elicit information regarding contacts between Al Qaeda and Iraq and pushed for torture of detainees to establish an Iraqi-Qaeda connection in the run up to the war, including the torture of al-Libi who just happened to end up dead in an Egyptian prison the other day.

Until then it'll be nothing but partisan mudslinging horseshit, which is the way the Republicans, the CIA, Dick Cheney and the rest want it. And you're all too happy doing your part.

I haven't commented on Pelosi until now because she continued to back pedal and refuse to go on record as to what she knew and when she knew it.... until now.... at least this was the first I have seen her comment on it. Which is probably why it hit so many news wires today.

So unlike little lemmings such as yourself, I waited until the actual story was there to comment on rather than commenting on hearsay or speculation.

But again, being the moronic little twit that you are, you attempt diversion and your bullshit mudslinging rather than address Pelosi. Because you are a fucking hack.

Water boarding has saved American lives, and that by itself is enough reason to resume the practice. It is typically harmless anyway. But even if it wasn't, better a few Arabs die than thousands of Americans. :)

As a preliminary matter, I'm not necessarily defending Pelosi. I have commented on her weakness and the weakness of Democratic members of Congress generally on this issue. My point is that there are enough questions about what happened, when and who knew about it that a thorough investigation akin to the Church Commission of the 1970s is a necessity.

Now, about Pelosi. She says that the CIA is lying about what she was told in the only briefing she ever attended on "enhanced interrogation" and was specifically told that the techniques had not been used when in fact they had been. I don't know if what Pelosi is saying is true, but I do know that there is enough uncertainty that calling Pelosi a liar is just plain nonsense.

First of all, the CIA memo about who attended what meeting when and what was discussed is a joke. The letter accompanying the memo indicates that the CIA hasn't confirmed the information and won't really vouch for it:

This letter presents the most thorough information we have on dates, locations, and names of all Members of Congress who were briefed by the CIA on enhanced interrogation techniques. This information, however, is drawn from the past files of the CIA and represents MFRs completed at the time and notes that summarized the best recollections of those individuals. In the end, you and the Committee will have to determine whether this information is an accurate summary of what actually happened. We can make the MFRs available at CIA for staff review.

Furthermore, the CIA's records have been pointed out to be unreliable by former Senator Bob Graham, who keeps an insanely OCD record of every singly thing he does throughout each and every day, fully co:

When this issue started to resurface I called the appropriate people in the agency and said I would like to know the dates from your records that briefings were held," Graham recalled. "And they contacted me and gave me four dates -- two in April '02 and two in September '02. Now, one of the things I do, and for which I have taken some flack, is keep a spiral notebook of what I do throughout the day. And so I went through my records and through a combination of my daily schedule, which I keep, and my notebooks, I confirmed and the CIA agreed that my notes were accurate; that three of those four dates there had been no briefing. There was only one day that I had been briefed, which was September the 27th of 2002."

So the CIA records aren't sufficient to identify the dates that these briefings occurred let alone what was said in them. And Bob Graham goes on to say that in the briefing that he received around the same time as Pelosi's briefing in September of 2002 he was not told that waterboarding had been used.

Additionally, Richard Shelby, Republican of Alabama, is putting out statements that sound a whole hell of a lot like what Pelosi is saying:

When asked whether Shelby was informed that waterboardbing was being used, Graffeo responded: “Waterboarding was one of the EITs the CIA briefed Sen. Shelby on.”

First, note that the waterboarding response does not indicate whether Shelby was told it was being USED.

Shelby was briefed on the “existence of Enhanced Interrogation Techniques” [emphasis added] and was informed of the “need for these techniques and the value of the information being obtained from terrorists during questioning.” It’s unclear to me whether this means Shelby was told the techniques were actually being used.

And the CIA document that everyone is relying on to show that Pelosi is lying describes the briefing that Shelby received in exactly the same language that it uses to describe the briefing that Pelosi received.

Now, add to it increasing drips and drabs of information from people like Larry Wilkerson, former Deputy Secretary of State under Colin Powell, stating that the CIA used torture techniques in the run up to the Iraq War at the behest of the Vice President's office to obtain information about the connection between Iraq and Al Qaeda and revelations from Charles Duelfer, chair of the Iraq Survey Group who was tasked with finding WMD in Iraq, claiming that the Vice President wanted to use torture techniques on former Iraqi officials to establish Iraq-Al Qaeda links and the recent "suicide" of al-Libi in an Egyptian prison (he was torture to establish the Iraq-al Qaeda connection).

Given all of the above, singling out Pelosi and calling her a liar, hack and hypocrite because she is claiming that the lied to COngress is a bit to omuch for me to handle.

And it's also a bit much to suggest that people told well after the fact that the CIA tortured people and who were prohibited by law from sharing that information with anyone else are equally as culpable as the folks the dreamed up and implemented a systemic torture regime in violation of US law.

But, that's just me.
