What is patriotism? How is patriotism defined?

" Patriotism: love for or devotion to one's country "

There is nothing in the definition about waving flags or watching fireworks.

If you love your country you want to protect it, protect Americans.

That means caring about others.

And right now, that means wearing a mask.

It's all part of the three W's.

Wash your hands.

Watch your distance.

And WEAR A MASK.

It's amazing you address me, having banned two of me, along with everyone else, from your private discussion of this issue. I always think of those private threads as a wonderful example of American intellectual masturbation - must be most exciting! I have one (bright red) mask, for which I paid ten quid to please a friend of my youngest daughter, who is making the things to help buy a horse. Over here you have to wear them to ride in buses, which you can do for nothing if you are sufficiently aged. Nobody currently does that thing, but I might one day - I'd be arrested if I did it in my car, I think. It saves me from breathing beer and infection over people who've done me no harm, and keeps my nose warm in the present gales, so what's the problem?

I use the surgical mask. I go through one a day. Maybe I should cycle them quicker. I would never wear it below the nose.

Am I perfect? Of course not, but at least I am trying. Sadly, many on the Alt Right cannot say the same.

you are using the least effective means and you are allowing it to harbor germs

you are virtue signaling to be sure, but you are providing protection to nobody

There may be a lot of talk and feigned bravado here in irresponsible chat posts but when you go out in public most people have a mask on.

Now you know darn well there's a lot of Republicans included in all that mask wearing.

What we probably have here is people who are saying one thing and doing another.

Cliff, you should know being a renowned virologist that a run of the mill surgical mask is pointless in stopping the speed of infectious diseases. And the fact that you wear one over and over and over again, shows a blatant lack of regard for your fellow man

Please think long and hard about how you are going to express this so called patriotism of yours. Don't attack the messenger Cliff. If you are going to do this, then do it right.

You should be going through approximately 10-15 masks a day

The abuser/enabler relationship requires two parties.

That's why I have a large Ignore List. In a place like JPP that only makes perfect logical sense, totally expected.

If somebody attacks me personally, that first instance is on the attacker.

At that point I know I have been warned that the attacker intends to conduct them self this way.

If I continue interacting with them, I can expect more of the same.

The second time it happens, and every subsequent time, is my fault. I refuse to be the enabler in a dysfunction relationship.

Talking to that person is like seeing a button on the wall labelled "For more insults, press here," and repeatedly pressing the button!

No thanks. Life is too short for that. I've been chatting online for decades. I already determined I 'could take that' a long time ago, don't need to any more.

So now I spoil myself. I've got nothing to prove. I come here to talk about politics.

I only wish to interface with polite posters who can discuss politics without making it personal.

Having a large Ignore List filters out all the junk posts and leaves one with only the higher quality posts.

Hey. Nobody can read every single post, so why waste time with shallow drivel?
