Nope. You are free to edit the quote however you feel. All you need to do is alter the name of the person so that it is obvious. The "obvious" part does not appear to be important to the mods. They will allow the most subtle and nearly invisible changes so long as it was done by "certain posters" apparently.

When I came on here and found out you were ALLOWED to alter quote boxes (so long as you obviously changed the person's name) I was floored. I tried playing around with it a few times when I was in a snit.

Some posters like Cypress do it all the time but they only SUBTLY change the name (almost as if it is no longer "obvious") but he is allowed to do it as he is a special poster on JPP.
