Politics aside do folks on this board support our action in Syria?

true on the gassing . althuogh to be honest the Horror Show of Syria -that's just another day

The point being "the devil you know".... regime change by the US/west is an inevitable disaster.
And I mean that by Bush/Obama/or now Trump

Unlike Libya, Syria is already a disaster .. and doing nothing won't make it better.

doing nothing wont make it better but it wont make it much worse either. Its already at the HIllary Clinton "At this point what does it matter" point.

Using it as a tool to silence democrats and send a message to the CHinese at the same time the summit is ongoing makes sense. The 50 missiles were well spent.

:0) It's a dog and pony show starring Vlad the Putin, with Madman Assad, and the Orange Emperor Trump as co-stars.

Will it work?

I doubt it.

EVERYTHING is political..............just saying.

Ok, on one level i don't disagree but at a certain point though we would have zero personal beliefs other than what 'our side' does and everything is like a game viewed on wins and losses.

Because I may support someone doesn't mean I agree with everything they do. Because I generally disagree with someone doesn't mean I think they are always wrong. Many of us like to claim we "think for ourselves". If that is the case we should be able to have our own opinions on issues even if they differ from those we generally support.

You can't have a serious conversation about war without talking about the politics behind it.

War is politics.

Ok, but there are almost a dozen other threads where people are arguing over who is a hypocrite etc without anyone stating whether they think we should have done what we did. I was curious to hear people's opinions. Maybe that's naive.

what did we kill 6? Middle easteners, particularly syrians, have most likely killed three times that before i wake up in the morning.

Whats 94 million btw? The price of the missiles? Thats already a sunk cost lol. We already bought them. Its not like we are going to stop buying them.

Exactly! Those fucking bombs were almost past their use-by date. We would have had to throw them out soon if we didn't use them up.

You are now being absurd. We get it, Trumpettes don't value life.

Yes, the $94 million is the cost of the missiles.

You don't understand sunk costs. It does not mean that the missiles are worthless and BECAUSE we expect to continue buying them we will incur replacement costs.

If we believe that having missiles protects us from aggression then it's not a sunk cost at all, since we continue to gain benefits from the missiles even without having to use them.

ehh. Life has a different value in the middle east than in the US. They strap bombs on to children over there and make them go kabluwey! If they dont care why should we?

Half a loaf is better than none I suppose.
What percentage of Muslims are violent fanatics?

Do you support assad or the opposition??

Assad's is the legal government of Syria. The country made good moves towards Syrian democracy before we started- illegally- arming the mob. Sure, some Syrians had grievances- now, thanks to us, hundreds of thousands are dead. Of course I support Assad. I wouldn't vote for him- but then I wouldn't vote for Trump or Clinton either.

You've just made the mistake of basing your decision on the sunk cost. If they are a sunk cost, then it does not matter if we use them or not. We won't recover the costs by using the missile. That's the point, one should not consider sunk costs in making a decision.

However, we are likely to replace these and will incur a future cost. I am not so sure that any military expense should be considered a sunk cost since we assume that the protection we gain has value.

Cruise missiles have a shelf life of about 30 years. Do you have anything to suggest that these were old missiles?

I don't disagree with that brother. Politics are not always a reflection of what one claims to believe .. but politics are more important than what they claim to believe.

People can claim to believe anything .. the real question is what do they support.

OK, so you can answer, thnx..... I asked you 2 or 3 times in various threads about your feelings/thoughts about Europe, about it becoming more Islamic & your thoughts on perhaps some countries some day having a Muslim majority & what, if any changes might occur??

Again, thnX for your response..

for those so inclined i'm curious why you do or don't support the bombing (leaving the political actors out of it)
Pretty sure everyone would agree that these pictures are enough to condemn U.S drone strikes. It isn't a political thing.
