Predictions?

"Gee, I'm so surprised that you are pushing an "Independent" ticket comprised of two Republicans."

Um... Bloomberg was a lifelong Dem, he ran as a rep because he couldn't get the Dem nomination. The point was that both are moderates, regardless of whether they have a (D) or an (R) behind their names.

Also.... I was not "pushing them"... the title of the thread asked for predictions. This is my latest. Given that my earlier prediction of McCain winning against Hillary is not likely to happen... I had to jump on another bandwagon.

Now I think it will be Rudy/Romney for the Reps, Edwards/Obama for the Dems and Bloomberg/Hagel as a third party ticket. I think the majority of moderates from each party along with the bulk of independents will vote for Bloomberg/Hagel. NOTE: JUST A PREDICTION...based solely off of my OPINION. No pushing.... maybe just a lil bit of poking...:pke:

:D

"When is it that you guys think we fell off the boat?"

Somewhere in the 1960's... damn crazy liberal hippies :tongout:

Who wins?

"LOL, I doubt it. They are about as independent as Lieberman.
Or O'Liely."

okay goofball.... I SAID they will RUN as Independents... not that they ARE independents. Clearly they both have the little (R) behind their names.

"Who wins?"

Jarod... sorry, I said it above, but forgot to add it to the last one.... IF those are indeed the three tickets... I think Bloomberg/Hagel would win.

Hagel is not a moderate, and though it's true that Bloomberg is at heart a dem, and that he is a moderate, he is still a republican. He still got on his knees for bush when the latter wanted to stand on the dead bodies of 3,000 Americans and hold his convention here. He's a republican today, and Hagel is a conservative Republican.

Your independent ticket would be made up of two republicans, and that is just a fact. I'm surprised Hagel isn't thinking of really remaking the political landscape and running with a democrat.

Darla... please allow me to clarify, they will RUN as Independents .... because they will not get the Rep nod. Bloomberg would be more moderate than any of the current candidates... that will attract many independents and moderate Dems. (IMO) Hagel is a conservative in many ways, but he is also very vocal against the war. Which will help the ticket in the eyes of many, especially moderate Reps.

Again, these are simply my opinions. Bloomberg hasn't even officially declared he is running and IF he choses to run, there is no guarantee that Hagel would be his VP choice.

Now quit picking on me or I will summon GOD to the site to smite you :burn:

I'm not arguing that they would syphon off Democratic support. I'm just saying, I'm not voting for two republicans just because they slapped an independent tag on themselves.

I think they would hurt the democratic ticket, and could possibly throw the white house to the R ticket. I think there is no chance they would win. Their only hope is to be a spoiler. I'm not sure it's the Dems chances they are going to spoil however. That's one possible outcome. Not the only one.

1) I never asked you to vote for them. I was providing my predictions.

2) I wouldn't expect you to vote for them... because I think they will win... and you (judging from the last two Presidential elections) only vote for the loser. :D

"I think they would hurt the democratic ticket, and could possibly throw the white house to the R ticket. "

That is certainly a possibility, but it could simply solidify the Dems win.... as you mentioned... they are both Reps.

"I think there is no chance they would win. "

Well since you are a Dem, we'll just give you credit for the "thinking" part. We won't expect you to be RIGHT in your thinking ;)

"Their only hope is to be a spoiler. I'm not sure it's the Dems chances they are going to spoil however. That's one possible outcome. Not the only one."

Very true. I think their spoiling a Dem win is less likely than ensuring a Dem win.

I dont belive an independent ticket will win the presidency in the next 20 years.

I don't even know how realistic this talk of a Bloomberg/hagel ticket is. Besides the iraq war, aren't they almost polar opposites? Bloomberg is a liberal, Hagel a Con.

In that case, it totally matters who's at the top of the ticket - since the VP candidate's policy views is subservient to the Prez candidate. If bloomberg is the top of the ticket, it would be a relatively "liberal" ticket.

On the other hand, if Hagel is on the top of the ticket, it would be a Con ticket.

Sorry, I just don't see these two getting together on the same ticket, realistically speaking.

Me? I'm waiting for the Oprah Winfrey / Maria Kennedy-Shriver ticket ;)

This even with the fact that Rudy is still running higher than the social conservatives? I think that the Rs may surprise everybody this time, including themselves.

Fred Thompson hasn't even declared and he polls higher than Romney.
If Rudy can make the 9-11 leadership and tough prosecutor images stick and negate the thrice married, twice divorced and abortion issues, he may survive the Southern primaries. If the opponents can make the "liberal" points stick, then he does not play well with the religious right, and may not survive the south.

Personally, I won't vote for him.

I won't vote for him either. I'm going with Paul or Tancredo if either of them are still in the running by the time Colorado's late-ass primaries hit.

Putting on a five dollar wig, and cheap lipstick at a halloween party is one thing.

Getting dressed to the nines, slapping on some Liz Claiborne makeup, and kicking up your heels in a show girl review, is entirely different.
That depends. If he did just for fun, that's one thing. If he did it as part of a fundraiser for (let's say) the FDNY post-911, Save Radio City Music Hall, or the Fresh Air Fund then that's a completely different thing. The second could be spun as a positive.

I'll be voting for one of these two in the primary for the same reason that I voted fro Sharpton: We need someone with the balls to by-pass the softball questions and make others give substantive answers to the questions none of them wants to be asked.

all politicians have been neutered as a part of taking office for the last several years....
At least that is the way it appears.
