Proud to serve my country!

One of the last of the compulsary duties of an American, paying your taxes. I am proud to do my part at keeping America strong, its a duty that pales in comparison to joining the armed forces, but its what I can contribute to this great nation.

I am proud to do my part! What I get back pales in comparison to what I have to give....!

Thank God I was born in the USA!

Hey, I am a patirot, what can I say!

If I were called to Jury Duty id be excited also.

I dont like to whine about serving my Country, I am proud to be called to do it!

I am also proud to serve my country. But I have some issues with the money they take from me by force. If the waste were removed I would gladly write them a check.

But its like my grown children. If they get in a tight spot and need money, I gladly give it to them. But if they are wasteful with their money and blow it stupidly, I am less likely to gladly help them.

Winterborn, that is much too logical an attitude. Don't you know that it doesn't matter how much waste there is or might have been we should just dole out the money, be proud of it and never object.

I am being too logical? Now there is an accusation I don't get very often.

lol

I wonder if those who were drafted into something like the Vietnam war had wanted to set conditions upon there service, because they knew better, how would that have gone over.

It would probably have gone over like it actually did.

I do pay my taxes, I just have some issues with it.

The men who were drafted and sent to Vietnam went, but many of them had issues with it.

The difference is that 58,000 of our finest young men will not die because of taxation. Another difference is that taxation does have a purpose. I am not saying have no taxes at all. I am saying our money needs to be spent wisley and not wasted. There was no purpose for the war in Vietnam.

The "them" attitude is part of the problem... Its US!

Well, I agree with your points. I just think too many Americans whine about the amount, and do not respect or even consider what they get for it. I get a LOT for my $45,000.00.

President LBJ (D) would have had them shot....

Do you whine when you overpay for poor food at a restaurant or get bad service somewhere?

Politicians love you. I bet they wish everyone was like you, just willing to fork over your money and not ask questions about it.

Tell us how proud you are that your tax money went to fund the Iraq War.

I guess this means I'm more patriotic than you.

And yet its people like you that deny that same feeling of pride to half the taxpaying public in the nation....instead you force them into being parasites on the rest of the tax paying citizens by actually paying them for not contributing to this great nation....

Im not denying them anything, the IRS will take there check.

That's not fair to Jarod's position. I think both he and Winter have valid points.

Yes, I too am proud of doing my duty by being a productive citizen and contributing to the good my community and nation by responsibly paying my taxes.

No, I don't want my government to cripple me financially with over burdensome taxation or wasting/frittering my hard earned tax dollars away.

And yes, there is a happy medium here for both positions.

I guess this means I'm more patriotic than you.
Yea I hear you.....If paying taxes is the measure of patriotism then I don't want to be too patriotic! LOL

That's one thing I do admire about the French. No one knows how to cheat on their taxes like a Frenchman! I think they invented the idea.

You can vote!

I understand that. And I have consistently voted for candidates that pledged for fiscal responsibility and frugal spending.

But that hasn't happened. So, despite my best efforts, they are still wasting my hard earned money.

And some of the little ploys to buy votes are popular with those who get the money, but not with those who don't.

Earned Income Credit provided money (taken from me by force) as unearned income for others.
