Public backs Obama in birth control fight, poll suggests

You do understand that if you require the insurance company to pay for something, that the insurance company adjusts EVERYONES insurance premiums? They don't take surveys to say 'are you going to use this option?'. If the costs are spread among everyone, then you are forcing people who object to it to pay for it.

As silly as many of us think it is to be opposed to contraception use, if it is their religious belief, we should not be forcing them to pay for it. Whether they use it directly or not.

In addition, no one is stopping you or anyone else from buying contraception ON YOUR OWN. Why the fuck does this need to be covered for everyone under insurance plans? Subsidize the poor who want it. Leave it up to everyone else to buy their own if they want it.
You and the Pope can try dragging us back to the 19th century kicking and screaming but it aint going to happen. You're comment is completely fucking irrational. By that standard no insurance company should ever pay for any medication because it violates the rights of Scientologist, Amish, Mennonites and 7th day adventist who would have to share the cost.

insurance is designed to protect people from huge unexpected medical costs.....obviously, when an insurance company is calculating the cost of premiums for a policy they take in consideration what they may be expected to pay out in insurance.......here, the insurance company will add to the premiums of every woman of childbearing age the cost of the most expensive forms of birth control......thus, rather than insurance being provided free for the insured, they are guaranteed to be paying, in the form of higher premiums, the cost of birth control, whether they are using it or not......this is not going to save anyone any money, it's going to cost them money.......

It is very simple. Buy your own. If you want to supplement birth control for poor people do it. But quit adding to the list of mandated things that MUST be covered for everyone. It is fucking retarded.

Yeah, until it is you, and then we will hear you sing another tune...they always do.

I think that perhaps Darla pointed this out somewhere else, but birth control pills are not just prescribed so women can freely fuck their faces off. My wife has ovarian cysts like thousands and thousands of other women. Birth control pills are prescribed to women with ovarian cysts so that they don't have to live 10-15 days of EVERY FUCKING MONTH in pain. That is just ONE of several reasons women are put on birth control. The fucking fundies on the right think about sex far more than any other group I know. They are worried about gays sex, unmarried sex, non-procreational sex. Fuck sake, they need to concentrate on their sex lives and keep their noses out of everyone elses.

actually, the first amendment prohibits the establishment of a state religion

if obama were to give in to the catholic church's demands, then he would be violating the first amendment

or prohibiting the free exercise thereof...........Obama is violating the First Amendment....he is in no position to dictate Catholic policy and what they must support.

I am sorry to hear about your wife and there are many reasons birth control pills re prescribed, you are absolutely right.

In her case its medication to treat a medical condition, and not birth control......pregnancy is not a disease....

The fact that so many of the people who would seek to limit access to birth control are ALSO against abortion is one of the greatest political ironies out there. It's ridiculous.

Do you want to know how we can reduce the # of abortions? Increase access to birth control. It's that easy.

I'll bet y'all never thought of that.

Absolutely correct you dumb fucker, but the law would allow HER BOSS to determine before hand whether or not to "opt out" not giving her and thousands of other women even the choice to use their insurance to obtain birth control. No woman should have divulge to her boss why she needs birth control or if she needs it at all. But you intrusive fucking righties ONLY see birth control as sex related so you want to be able to stop employers from providing coverage for much needed pills.

Pregnancy is not a disease, well let's see, it can cause nausea, vomiting, headaches, backaches, diabetics, high blood pressure, constipation, diarrhea, and countless other maladies, even death, but it isn't a disease, so says a man.

Birth Control Commonly Used for Non Contraceptive Purposes

"Beyond Birth Control: The Overlooked Benefits of Oral Contraceptive Pills," a study conducted by Rachel Jones of the Guttmacher Institute, revealed that 14 percent of birth control pill users in the United States, or approximately 1.5 million women, take the pill exclusively for purposes other than preventing pregnancy. Moreover, 58 percent of birth control pill users take the pill, "at least in part," for purposes other than contraception.

Rachel Jones, the study's author, stated, "It is well established that oral contraceptives are essential health care because they prevent unintended pregnancies. This study shows that there are other important health reasons why oral contraceptives should be readily available to the millions of women who rely on them each year."

The study found that thirty-one percent of women on the pill used it to ease menstrual pain, 28 percent for menstrual regulation, and 14 percent for reducing acne. According to the study, "762,000 women who have never had sex use the pill, and they do so almost exclusively (99%) for noncontraceptive reasons."

Oooooo sex is EVILZ.
