Capable of a mass assault against groups of people. That's a weapon for attack, not basic protection. Civilians don't need to clear a space of enemies or blast away a hippo in civilian life. They aren't even practical when compared to a good pistol.

I would rather have a firearm and not need it, then to need a firearm and not have it.

Um, many of us know more than the gun nuts on the issue. We talk about reinstating limitations and suddenly we're banning guns. They don't have reasoned discourse they have trigger reactions.
