I agree, however, it's not just training. There are lots of klans men on the force as well.

It's what they believe.
How they live
What they practice

For example, if they believe all Blacks are criminals and need to be stopped and frisked they dont' need to be a kop.

I do not believe that the majority of the people of color being shot unnecessarily in the line of duty by police officers is due to the KKK being disguised and employed as police officers.

I believe mostly that police are being trained to racially profile, shoot first- and ask questions later, and are way too quick to pull their weapons out and start shooting, while a majority are just accidents that happened and are then covered up to protect themselves when that happens.

Police officers do have to pass a background check, and no police department I know of would ever hire someone associated or affiliated in any way with a racial hate group!

I actually understand the fear that most police officers have of being shot in the line of duty, in this world of guns, guns, guns, and more guns. I believe that the gun lobby and Republicans are responsible for more of this than they realize.

If we're going partisan most of the issues with police occur in urban areas and most urban areas are controlled by Democrats. Ultimately real change happens on a bi-partisan basis but for the sake of partisan discussion we'll stick with cities. Most big American cities have Democratic Mayors and they select the police chiefs. Now not everything happens on a local basis but for the local discussion why can't Democratic Mayors pick better leaders who hire better police officers?

Actually I labeled myself wacko. I was being partisan but I also wasn't wrong. The biggest issues with police come in urban areas. What are urban politicians doing wrong in hiring police chiefs and ultimately the officers who work under them?

(this isn't to suggest there aren't problems in suburban or rural areas but the heart of the issue is in our cities.)

The Law enforcement derived from slave patrols and it has morphed into what it is today.

The entire force is rooted in racism. Until it's gutted from the inside out Blacks and other minorities don't stand a chance. No amount of training will solve the problem Blacks have with Law Enforcement.

In fact, its the entire judicial system that has the decked stacked against Blacks, that's why the prisons of full Black males.

Its by design.

I am witness to seeing racism, I know it exists, empathize with those of color, and continually vote for those who also wants to see positive change and willing to make the necessary changes to try and curb racism, sexism, and bigotry of any kind.

Hang in there, stay positive, vote your conscience, and have faith that there are others who also want to help!

It was 128,063 people in 2016, representing 8.5%.
