apparently alot of you like to cry 'racism' without bothering to even look in to the issue on a basic level. As was discussed in another previous thread, Illinois law sucks when it comes to the right to bear arms for both citizens and armed security guards. What makes THIS particular situation worse is the owner of mannys blue room, nor Jemels employer, are copping to the fact that they broke the law by assigning/hiring an armed security guard for an establishment that has a 51% rule. In Illinois a number of hoops must be jumped through in order to obtain the necessary certifications to be an armed security guard, but the absolute restriction on armed security is that one cannot hire armed security in an establishment that makes 51% or more of its revenue off the sale of alcohol UNLESS that security is an off duty cop who is still in uniform. So, even to this 'cop hater', it can be reasonably assumed that a call of a person with a gun in an alcohol serving establishment can result in anyone NOT A COP will be immediately shot because said cop is reasonably justified in stopping a shooting incident.

This was tragic and a consequence of having a gun when police arrive at the scene of a 9-11 call shots fired.

Illinois law and regs definitely need to be changed so that this doesn't happen again, but more importantly......

I find it saddening that the mother of this guy now wants to enrich herself from this tragedy.

she is suing the wrong people. Jemels employer needs to be sued for sending him on an obviously illegal assignment and Manny needs to be sued for hiring someone under the table in the first place.

I won't take away the strides we have made. Yes, we don't have separate water fountains anymore, but we do have separate neighborhoods. etc. We are still discriminated against in the work force, housing, education, etc.
