All this from the Grand Wizard. I am surprised that there is no racial epithet attached here like his brilliant one earlier this month that can be seen as the sig on any of Lady T's posts. Go ahead on with your bigoted self.

Bullshit! Cops in New Jersey and Florida are still operating under federal consent decrees because they target black males driving on their roads. Years ago 20/20 did an "experiment" where they put black males in cars with white females and showed that they were far more likely to get pulled over for nothing than white men in the same cars with the same women. DWB exists all over this country where DWW does not exist. I go through Border Patrol Check Points on a regular basis and NEVER get asked where I am going or who's car I am driving while Hispanic friends of mine get that treatment on a regular basis. When I worked at the Public Defender here, there was an investigator that worked with us that had to go through the check point on his way home once a week and regularly got asked where he was going or who's car he was driving. White men are NOT subject to racial profiling by the police. When that happens you can whine, but until then, you're dismissed.Cops are a-holes to whites too though. That shit is equal opportunity.
Boston and the surrounding areas are some of the most racially divided places in the US. Not all police, but far too many have different attitudes when they encounter black men than when they encounter white men. If you look at the cases that brought on the consent decrees in Florida and New Jersey you would see that cops absolutely treat dark people with less respect than light people.Wrong-o. To suggest otherwise is to accuse the police of racism.
Yeah but that problem is not from people acting under color of law.Oh look, because gumby has never had a problem due to his skin color or gender, that must mean that no one has. Again you twit, walk through East St Louis... then, if you make it out, you can tell us how no white men ever have problems due to their skin color.
Historically black colleges are some of the easiest for white men to get into. When I was in law school Howard University admitted almost every white man that applied to their school that met the GPA/LSAT requirements. The problem is not very many white men apply to Howard. As for your AME church quote, I dated a black woman for 2 years and went to her AME church every sunday and NEVER had a problem. They treated me very nicely.Like NAACP, AME Church, Historically Black Colleges and Universities, BET, ....

What's your point? *shrug*Historically black colleges are some of the easiest for white men to get into. Dooood I grew up there and am on record here as saying that Boston is a racist area. That's why Gates went off on the cop.Boston and the surrounding areas are some of the most racially divided places in the US. I'm still waiting for you to comment on my explanation of that minor issue instead of parroting your racist bullshit. And no, it's not perjury to make a minor error in a police report that has nothing to do with the reason why Gates was arrested. Nice deflection though. *shrug*Neither I, nor the woman or her lawyer ventured to speculate on Crowleys "reaction"....she merely told the FACTS that contradict Crowleys written version. The audio of the tape confirms her story. It's simple....what Crowley said wasn't true...in effect he commited perjury in submitting a false statement. That a quick review dismissed his report and dropped charges against Gates lends credence to the woman's statement regarding her 911 call.
Keep BS'sing and dancing, my little neocon parrot....you're pathetic attempts to be clever are most entertaining!![]()
Dooood I grew up there and am on record here as saying that Boston is a racist area. That's why Gates went off on the cop.
Gates is of an age where everything, all his experiences and perceptions, are filtered through a lens of Jim Crow. Men and women of his generation see boogeymen where they don't always exist. It really is something an anglo saxon white person cannot ever relate to.
The whole Gates affair really does serve as a teachable moment in this way: Black American's can see and experience the incident being treated fairly. The psyche needs generational experiences of fairness to errase all that has transpired of unfairness. In short, the black man is not only suspicious and angry, but lacks a national conscience of institutional fairness...it's happening and I really believe that every time something like this happens is healthy.
A young man I know explained it to me this way: A black man goes into a store to buy something and the clerk is rude to him. He has to filter that rudeness through his brain and ask "was she rude to me because I am black, or because she is just rude or having a bad day?" Being white we generally never have to filter that kind of thing.
I can hear what you're saying but growing up in the Boston area it was very obvious that The Irish were supposed to hate the Italians and The Italians were supposed to hate the Jews and they were all supposed to hate the blacks. I knew that I could only travel so far, either way, on the Orange Line.
We had a black family living across the street and the boy was 5 years older and huge compared to me as a ten year old riding a high riser. One day he stopped me, grabbed my bike and threw it across the street because 'you're a damn whitey'.
As an Irish - German with a Jewish sounding name I was called a "Jew" by some girl in High School, after she had ran up behind me and kicked me full-force in the back of the thigh.
When I drove a motorcycle I had the gate guard to my parent's neighborhood on Cape Cod tell me to "turn that thing around and get the hell out of here" before I could loosen the chin strap on my helmet.
I used to carry my helmet with me instead of leaving it on the bike and with that, my leather "pilot" jacket and trimmed beard I got disrespect from many a store clerk, as well as nasty looks from many folks on the street.
I had several people try and run me off the road because I was riding a motorcycle. One guy did it twice in the span of two weeks.
When I was in college I saw an old high school teammate one night in a bar and gave him a friendly shove on the back. He turned around and in some ghetto voice that he didn't have when I knew him he told me to 'get my white ass away from him'.
I had two local kids from New York follow me for 20 miles on the New York State Thruway yelling 'Boston sucks and we're going to kill you', presumably because I had Mass plates and had the nerve to pass them on an eight lane highway.
I was coming back home from helping a friend build an addition on his house and decided to stop in the mall on my way back and buy my wife some earrings for our anniversary. I had on some grungy clothes and couldn't get a clerk to talk to me.
Gates need to figure out what I figured out by age ten.

I agree SM that prejudice is not something that ONLY a black man has experienced. My only intent was to try and wrap my limited understanding around the idea that an entire race of American's...Americans, who were natural born citizens of America, for generations were subject to a national attitude that simply because of the color of their skin, they were not as worthy as those who were not black. In fact in many parts of this country they were victims of laws that allowed for the most criminal of abuses; that this seeped into their conscience as a culture certainly cannot be denied. As a group, they have as a people; felt the heavy hand of injustice.
Suspicion of the white man was not formed in a vacuum, but in generational experiences...Jews, too, have in modern times experienced similar abuses. The pogroms of Russia come to mind. However, for this discussion we are talking about black Americans that were born prior to the 1960's who grew up still experiencing racism. It will take another generation or two, imo, for black American's to have grounded into their sub conscience psyche..."Laws and attitudes in America really are fair to all men".
The problem now for us as a nation is to move beyond race. Whites really have been feeling the unfair swing of a pendulum that seeks to right wrongs. I tell my kids that this is a very delicate time of transition in race relations. It is true that reverse discrimination happens, especially in government and other public employment positions. I believe that it will become less and less tense and more and more fair as time and circumstances and incidents play out, especially with Gates type of incidents which first and foremost cause a national discussion where we get to see fairness and respect played out and where we as a nation can come together on the issue.
Do I think Obama floundered and blundered in his involvement? Yes I do, but even in that here we are all talking about it and that is good.
It's been a few years since I've had to deal with braying jackasses on this subject, so rattling off stats and references are not at my fingertips anymore. And quite frankly I get tired of doing others homework. Common sense approach using easily accessible general knowledge doesn't help, I see. Well, with just a quick google, I found a gentleman that puts my point into perspective

Also, FYI to cover the rest of the issue.

Gates was 9 or 10 when the 1964 Civil Right Act was passed. I doubt he has experienced more bigotry than I have. I saw it what it was- bullshit to be dismissed when possible and dealt with otherwise. He's the racist here, as well as Obama. Not Crowley.
Crowley is definitely not a racist, Gates definitely is. I am not excusing his racism only trying to understand it.
Gates may only have been a child in 1964, but certainly it is also true that his parents and grandparents and great grandparents were most likely victims of racism and even slavery. That their attitudes and experiences were certainly a part of his experience must be true. Think about this SM, he was already 10 in 1964 when we FINALLY recognized as a nation that there was still a major issue with racial disparity; a hundred years after they were supposed to have been emancipated from slavery!
I also think that political capital has been made by shysters exploiting race for their own gains within the democrat party. The conservative black movement in this country is a result of some blacks seeing this and stepping back from the ideology of victimhood that as they believe keeps black Americans from getting away from cultural poverty.
That you immediately went hostile on me simply because I disagreed with you on one particular subject created a visual that I just had to share. That you continue in this vein does not change that imagery. See my response below....it should calm you down so we can have a civil exchange.

I know this is taxing on your limited abilities and intelligence, but if you clik back to the previous post where I RESPONDED to the drivel, you'll have your answer (I'm tired of repeating myself, as you hope to find some way to weasel out of your statements). If don't like it, TFB. Logic and facts are like sunlight to a vampire for you. Case in point....to date you cannot logically or factually prove that I've posted any "racist" statements, yet you keep repeating the accusation.
