Republican and Neolibertarian Gun Excuse Refuted....

Wow and in Mexico, the country number 5 on your list, gun ownership is ILLEGAL. Wonder how that could be? I thought that if guns were illegal it would cut down on the number of gun deaths. Wow must be a flaw in that logic huh? Oh, and when I say illegal, I mean that 10 years ago a couple from Nebraska ACCIDENTALLY took the exit that led from El Paso Texas into Juarez and were jailed for MONTHS before they were released.

So Socrtease should all civilians be trained in shooting and firearms?

This would dissuade wackos from going on shooting sprees because they know everybody else will shoot and kill them ASAP so therefore their lame attempts at murder will be vanquished...

CK
Again your logic is flawed. You seem to think that someone that takes a gun to a mall to murder people is weighing the pros and cons of their conduct. You know little about the criminal mind. Most crimes are committed without a solitary thought about the consequences. So, to answer your question, I think more people SHOULD take gun safety classes. They should learn to handle their firearms safely and proficiently, but as I said just above, the second part of your statement is not supported by logic.

http://davekopel.com/Espanol/Mexican-Gun-Laws.htm

The Mexican Constitution guarantees the right of Mexicans to possess arms.

Umm...Socrtease before you make false blanket statements maybe you should do a little research first....

CK
Did you read the whole thing? Even so, gun control laws in Mexico are very strict, and police discretion in enforcement makes possession of firearms of greater than .22 very difficult. I JUST went to Mexico on Saturday. At EVERY bridge it tells you that it is illegal to bring guns into mexico. The COnstitution as enforced in mexico makes possession of any weapon that fires a "military round" illegal. I have forgotten more shit about mexico than you know.

And then there was this part of the article you research so well:

“The inhabitants of the United Mexican States have the right to possess arms in their homes for their security and legitimate defense with the exception of those prohibited by federal law and of those reserved for the exclusive use of the Army, Navy, Air Force, and National Guard. Federal law shall determine the cases, conditions and place in which the inhabitants may be authorized to bear arms.”

A right is not a right when the government has the ability to infringe upon it. Compare the mexican "right" to the US right:

A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

Again your logic is flawed. You seem to think that someone that takes a gun to a mall to murder people is weighing the pros and cons of their conduct. You know little about the criminal mind. Most crimes are committed without a solitary thought about the consequences.

Actually Socrtease you unknowingly just proved my point...

Your gun rights advocates idea is that civilians are or can be armed means that there are less criminal activity as it will dissuade criminals from doing crimes because they would be afraid that other people will shoot them first....And therefore there is no point in committing mass murders because you have a high degree of likelihood to be unsuccessful from the start...aka you'll die first b4 killing anybody....

So you admit the criminal mind doesnt think about consequences and have little rational thought...So therefore how can the deterence effect of having other armed people be taken into their judgements?

You know if you believe that criminals dont think rationally...Than why would they even care if others had guns and could potentially shoot them b4 they get to commit crimes...

Socrtease ..... man im sorry to say you really got schooled here....

Socrtease dude...You just contradicted yourself in the same thread....

Wow and in Mexico, the country number 5 on your list, gun ownership is ILLEGAL.

And just 5 mins later....

And then there was this part of the article you research so well:

Ok umm... Socrtease you just contradicted yourself....

Are you really that bad at reading comprehension. Read the WHOLE paragraph, it excepts ALL weapons that can be used for military service. The law as ENFORCED in mexico says that ONLY .22's can be owned by the populace. People in mexico routinely go to jail for owning guns larger than that. I have a challenge for you. I want you to walk across the Santa Fe Street bridge into Juarez Mexico with a gun strapped to your waist. If you can get by the Police check point right there, and then walk all the way to the Kentucky Club on Avenida de Juarez and back and will pay for your entire trip here. If has to be out in the open and it has to be a 38 or larger.

So then the 800,000 to 2.5 million defensive gun uses per year in this country don't prove the point that it does deter and even stops crime?

CK you are one of the most intellectually dishonest debaters on this site. You use half quotes and things taken out of context to pretend to prove a point. It is like arguing with someone with brain damage.

Actually this is one of those dodge the thread posts.....

Its an "I got owned and now I'm trying to change the subject posts"....

Thats why you took your time to delete only the parts of my post that make you look like your contradicting yourself...aka your own words...

Anyways I'm going to sleep...

Cya later....

And just FYI before you make false blanket statements maybe you should know something about the subject first...

So you dont look like as much of a fool next time....

Its only for your own good....

CK

Socrtease dude...and talking about intellectual dishonesty....What about this brilliant post of yours???

Wow and in Mexico, the country number 5 on your list, gun ownership is ILLEGAL.

And just 5 mins later....

And then there was this part of the article you research so well:

“The inhabitants of the United Mexican States have the right to possess arms in their homes for their security and legitimate defense

Do you just lie and change your statements 5 mins later???

Whats up with that??

CK

So Diuretic....Just a question....

Should the US population all get training with guns.... In this case everybody knows how to use them.... So therefore a mad gunman if he starts shooting would be quickly killed by a trained shooter...

What is your views on that?

CK

I'm slamming my head against a brick wall elsewhere on that. But I appreciate the opportunity to put my views.

I don't have a problem with CCW, I have to make that clear. As I understand it - and I have to generalise - the requirements are stringent. But being competent with a firearm, say a handgun, doesn't give anyone the skills to take on an active shooter. The variables are too great. It's been put to me that a CCW citizen could pull out their weapon and shoot dead the active shooter. The problem with that is that that would require a re-alignment of the universe. The luck involved would be so strong that the Earth would be tilted off its axis and would go spinning into the Sun. Of course it could happen. A shooter could pull a firearm and begin shooting and a CCW permit citizen standing behind the shooter could grab their firearm and shoot the active shooter in the back.

I've got a lot more on this but I'll leave it at that.
